Free wifi on London underground with Three

It's a pain to use really. Some stations are too congested so it takes a while to connect to the service, and the train only stays at the station for a very short time, enough to send few messages or load a webpage but not loading media.

But if it's free to use, might as well use it :p.

Surely if it's only in stations it's going to be a quick way to rinse your battery? Let's connect to the network at one station for 2mins, get on a train, then your phone loses the network, frantically searches for a network whilst you're in between stations, then connects you at the next station for 10secs, then repeat for the duration of your journey!?

No point really, until they put it on the trains themselves..

I hope that never happens.
People phones beeping on the underground? No thank you

It's awesome- I will now be able to change to 3 from Orange.

Wifi on the underground is excellent. Click link in station, read article, choose next article in next station.

Might want to avoid Paris ;) It's good stuff, I've used it a bunch of times while waiting at stations but on the tube itself it varies (at a very obvious guess due to it acting as a sort of faraday cage).

Probably worth noting that not only paym customers from all networks can use this but Virgin Media customers can too if you can remember your details.

I have just been in Madrid and their underground just has mobile signal coverage even in the tunnels. Much better...

They have the same in Hong Kong, every time I use their underground system you always see people streaming media on their phones, much better than having wifi only at stations...

Do you go often? Can you recommend a provider there? I'm moving there for 6 months and want an lte aim card with a decent limit and not capped speeds! Struggling to find anything decent.

I use to go every year when I was younger, but recently it's only once every couple of years. I'm due to go next Easter so I've been looking at SIM deals as well, last time I was with PCCW as they did a pretty good 1 month deal, but that was before they got LTE. PCCW also had quite a few wifi hotspots around as well, think that was the main reason I went with them.
