I need to pick up a cheap tablet to use myself. This is only going to be used for a few months - I intend buying an iPad when the Air is next updated.

I want something fairly cheap that will hold most of its value. (I want to be able to sell it in a few months time)

I have been looking at some refurbs. The Nook HD and the 2012 Kindle Fire HD are both available for about £65ish. (both refurbs)

For something that will only be used for a few months will they do the job? Is it better to stetch for the 2012 Nexus 7 or similar?

ASUS MeMO Pad 7 can be had for £79 on a certain supermarkets website.

It's essentially a 2012 Nexus 7 with a SD card slot.

dont get Nook HD. i had one before then got rid of it immediately. they are very slow and give you headache.

Kindle Fire HD is alright, actually faster and better than Nook HD. I had one before and you need to use different launcher as stock one is very annoying.

search "Hisense Sero 8 Quad Core Tablet" on Hot UK Deals website.
Its a 8" with Rockchip RK3188T Quad Core and 1GB RAM.

Just ordered on of the previous generation Kindle Fire HD (16gb) for £65 (certified refurbished)

I have been offered a brand new 8GB current gen Fire HD for £77.51

It is possible to cancel the 16GB one still (or return when it arrives). Should I go with the new model? It seems spec wise there is very little between them. The new one has a 1.5ghz cpu over 1.2ghz in the old one. It is a little bit lighter and it loses the front camera. The latest Fire OS isn't available on the old one though.

Why not just get a used iPad mini? They seem to come up regularly in the MM. Buy it for £150, use it for a couple of months, sell it back on here for £150.

At least that way you can buy apps without worrying about being able to transfer them from one OS to another.

My eldest was looking at getting a fire hd for amazon prime tv and in our research we noted that the new fire hd was regarded as much better than the first .

Don't want to spend that much on the stop gap.

Any interesting links you came across by any chance?
