those crazy americans at it again

I can see the NRA response now, everyone leaving the safety of there own home is to wear bullet proof clothing. We must keep our arms at all costs.

Cant this stupid stupid nation see what there outdated constitution is doing to them.

They really are a laughing stock in everything they touch since the moon landings and the shuttle.

The NRA will probably say that if the sound guy had a gun then it wouldn't have been an issue.

They have to drop, you can't just kick officers off firearms like we do, they can't spend as much time being trained as dedicated firearms officers, then theirs the cost, so training will be reduced. It might be better in those countries, but I highly doubt they will be as well trained as a dedicated force.
I mean our officers don't have time to do their job, let alone extensive and frequent firearms training.

Standards may not be as high as specialist officers but I don't see any evidence to support your assertion that firearms will be used more often because of it.

30 rounds, seems to be a constant stream of these sorts of stories which gives the impression of a very over the top aggressive response from their police.

RIP.

It does reflect a serious lack of training when you continue to fire wildly with the very civilians you are supposed to "protect and serve" in your background.

Is this surprising? They let 9 year olds fire Uzis who then accidentally kill their range instructor for a start. Another kid killed himself with one not too long ago.

But it's their constitutional right!

That is 10 rounds each which...aggressive response from the police to a gun? What do you expect a passive one?

Nothing to do with how the police are trained, do the police let them or do they follow the law like everyone else? Oh wait LOL AMERICA

were talking about the same police officers who miss the fact theres innocent bystanders in their line of fire whilst unleashing 30 rounds at a suspect. you could probably be holding a potato and still get shot

An unfortunate point that I did not forget about. *shakes head*

Can't be easy being po-po in a nation that's so overwhelmingly armed.

They're so desperately in need of review it barely stands reason. Forget the NRA, sport and amateur ownership. Right to carry/conceal in public needs addressing. The police in the USA have non-lethal arms, why don't they use them first, by default?

I'm not even going to touch the race issue.

Does right to carry and conceal in public need addressing? can you give me stats on gun crimes committed by people legally carrying guns on their person? As for why aren't the non lethal arms used by default well they are when the police force has them available but the police have budgets so they can't all have both a non-lethal and lethal weapon if they face a lot more armed crime than not. Police are trained to escalate one level above the threat so they have non lethal for unarmed and the guns come out when they have a deadly weapon like a knife or gun.

Obviously the cops should have bigger guns so that the perp could be turned into bloody mist prior to getting anywhere near the TV crew ...

That's assuming that the restaurant employees hadn't already blown the robber away before they got there ...

Have any of you even watched Cops? It's amazing because the police in the USA carry firearms and most of the perps are full on crack fiends.

If that's not an argument for armed police in the UK, I don't know what will convince you.

How is armed police in a different country facing a certain type of criminal an argument to arm the UK police? Not only do they not want to be armed but there also isn't the same need to be as they aren't regularly being threatened with deadly weapons as in the US.

It's like American cops are trained by ****ing storm troopers, can't hit the side of a barn door.

Much like the other recent shooting where someone with a knife ran at two cops. Fired 10-12 rounds at him before he was even 10 feet away. A single (non lethal) shot should have been enough, even a lethal one would have been understandable, but 12?

Like I said, have you even watched Cops, bro?

They're trained to shoot until they're no longer a threat, so either they are dead or they're lying on the ground, in addition they are trained to shoot centre mass and there isn't really such thing as a non lethal shot (unless you are talking about tasers which don't always work) Police in America are actually trained to shoot someone with a knife if they get within 21ft of an officer because someone can cover that distance extremely quickly and get a stab in. Imagine they fire a taser at him and it doesn't stop him, he then stabs the closest officer to him and is then shot but the stabbed officer dies from his wound. You can imagine why they have the rules they do in that case.
