Absolutely appalling overclocking headroom.
The older CPUs are taking it to the cleaners in the gaming benchmarks.
If the 5930k does not come up with the goods this platform for gaming and benching is going nowhere.
It did perform well on Civ5 though which is interesting.
didn't the x58 980x's have a high tdp aswell? i remember them coming with large intel stock coolers
they're suggesting it'll hit 4.4 which isn't terrible given they're using a baby AIO cooler.
The 5930k estimate* hitting 4.6.... OK, it's not north of the 5GHz barrier but neither is it terrible, I'm sure well cooled ones will be able to better this.
Shame they didn't actually have one to try it out, saying it'll give a couple of hundred more MHz isn't at all the same![]()
