I'm looking into doing this but working on bursary/course fees etc because i'll have a house and no job so no income to support myself.
Reason why being a physio has become appealing is I was looking for a career change due to after 13yrs not liking the way my company has become in ethics and morals.
The possibility of voluntary redundancy is seriously encouraging me to have a fresh outlook - the reason for Physio is since my accident 6yrs ago I have cycled to London-Paris and up Mont Ventoux amongst others and it's something I'd never have done without their encouragement and knowledge!

When it's all done though I could be left with a lot of debt but is it a feasible occupation with a house etc in terms of income?

I realise I have waffled an awful lot so apologies.

Not to discourage you, but having worked in hospitals for a while and now in the community the amount of student physios/qualified physios I have spoken to that could not find a job was immense and I live in London.

My friend couldn't even get onto a Physio degree, in the end decided to become a Nurse like me where there are jobs available all the time.

Really hope you succeed though, good luck!

Its an interesting job but do some research into how many qualify each year and how few jobs there are!

This ^

There really aren't many opportunities, and it's not all footballers and female beach volleyball players whose thighs you'll be jiggling.

Look into some of the less oversubscribed medical professions. Occupational therapy, radiography, etc

I'd guess its a bit of a long road before you start earning decent money. 3years at uni plus a few years in the NHS before private will look at you.

My sister is a physio, I remember here doing a lot of volunteering work experience before she went to uni, then after uni when she was in the NHS she did unpaid phsyio work for women's football teams to build up experience then when she went private she was always doing extra courses to set her apart from the competition, went to Australia to do a masters etc. Now she's pretty much in the place where there is always work for her. but its not as simple as training to be a physio then that's it.

Thanks for all the replies - you're right, I was not assuming it would be as easy as what it is made out to be so very interesting to hear about the cons of it.

Occupational Therapist was actually another degree I was querying so i'll look into that more I think.

I'll bear it in mind and enquire a bit more about it. :)
