Galloway attacked in street - broken jaw, rib

Well racial equality laws do apply to white people in theory as well. Personally I think we should remember the holocaust.
But neither should have anything to do with the way Israel (a country, not a race) behave towards Gaza. The repeated accusations of anti-semite and bringing up the holocaust when ever people speak out about Israel's behaviour is just repeated attempts by the pro-Israel lobby to discredit anyone who isn't onside.

What makes him different for you to raise up your concerns?

Most politicians tend to talk for ages without answering the questions asked. Same old drivel about lessons must be learnt when massive mistakes have been made...only for the same mistakes to be repeated.
They hadly differ in opinion, the majority of the uk could be against a war but both main parties will be all for it...so youre going to war like it or not (iraq).

George Galloway happily goes against the grain and talks like a normal person....dont agree with all he says but atleast when he says it he doesnt come across as some slimey little worm who is just repeating what he has been told to say.

Yeah but calling Bradford an "Israel-free zone" can be interpreted as anti-semitic. What if an Israeli citizen was living in Bradford (e.g. at the University), should they be forced out? I bet a lot of Respect party members would be quite happy to use violence to attack Israeli citizens in Bradford, and Galloway's comments can be seen as promoting such attacks. Just because you don't like the State of Israel's actions doesn't condone such attacks.

I do not always agree with him but at least he is not a bland corporate MP churned off the Oxbridge belt doing their time while voting for whatever the Party dictates. He makes a fool of himself sometimes but at least he stands up for causes.

Only if you take it completely out of context, he was talking about a complete boycott of Israel, not instigating violent protest.

Magnolia you should really dial back on the personal attacks. It's not necessary. Just about everyone else can make their point without them.

It wouldn't be a fair interpretation though. Israelis are mostly Jewish but they aren't all of the Jews. He has a problem with a group of people who happen to be part of a larger group of people. Suggesting otherwise does come across as playing the race card in my eyes. I'm not saying I agree with his opinions, they're probably counter-productive and going to whip-up hostility, but nonetheless don't think it's a fair assessment.

He's an interesting character and I'm definitely one who doesn't agree with the way he goes about things but I hope him a speedy recovery. If you don't agree with things he's saying then there are proper ways of responding, not like this! Hope the idiot that did this gets prosecuted.

He's a bit of a **** and these days seems to be pandering towards certain segments of the population... almost to the point where he likes to pretend he's got a different religion. Then again his speech in the US Senate was brilliant and tbh... he doesn't deserve to be attacked physically for having controversial views.

The holocaust excuse has had its time. The persecution of your grandfathers should not give you reason to attack those who disagree with the military and political actions of a sovereign state.

I don't like Galloway, but I wish him a speedy recovery, and hope that they prosecute the man who did it.
