The Mondeo has gone. Long live the...

That is lovely, I wonder if it comes in an Estate variant.....

Off to look.

They do come in estate - but it adds yet a further rarity to an already ridiculously rare trim. There was a similar specced estate in grey floating around - Howard will probably have a link after scouring AutoTrader for weeks :D

I've got my saved search still, out of pure interest. Not seen a single Totanium X Sport with nav let alone the other stuff since though in any body shape!

Cheers! As far as I can tell that's the case, yes. But I'm going to be making doubly sure I know all the facts and that a remap won't affect the life of the box or engine components before I go ahead.

The box is rated for 450nm of torque anyway where the remap only takes the peak up to ~370 (and around 260bhp) so should be fine.

If the case makes the year/model you've gone for the one to get. 250+ horsepower with lots of torque in a comfort barge is not bad at all, certainly enough to keep the warm hatches at bay and like you say the Mondeo is a superb handling chassis. I've driven and being in an ST220 going at serious pace both at Oulton and the surrounding roads, it was shooting well above its weight.

OK its no RS4 or RS6, but it cost less for a damn sight newer car and far far less to run, seems like a damn good choice and no one would ever expect a Mondeo to go like that. :D

Yeah that's about right! As far as I understand, facelift (2011) basically introduced the 1.6 Ecoboost and more power for the 2.0, and a few light cosmetic changes (front bumper, rear lights, DRLs) - so it was a pretty light facelift by all accounts.

There is a 2.5T with Nav but for £8680, it's a tad expensive for what it is. I've been looking for the right one to come on AT for a while but I've yet to find one. Mine was £9K two years ago for a 2009 2.5T Titanium X Sport.

There was a MK4.5 240ps Titanium X Sport for £11k a while back with quite a lot of kit but there aren't any at this price point anymore.

Lovely car Howard. So how do your new MPG figures compare to the wallet emptying 3.0 v6?

I know you said in your OP that it's better, but some figures would be nice. :)

Nice step up from the ST, I have always fancied one of these too. Waiting for them to drop in price as they aren't worth £10k+ to me right now given how mondeos depreciate.

Terrible flares and trainers though!

Oh can I get some actual user experience of the transmission in day to day driving since finding one locally to test drive is a pita! :(

That looks like quite a nice place to be that does. I like it, it looks a decent upgrade from the ST :)

Nice. My Dad's got a facelift 240BHP one and I'll have it when he changes next year, I encouraged him to buy it so I could have a very extended test drive period. It's never missed a beat.

The engine is silky smooth for a 4 pot and the gearbox suits the car very well.

Make sure the gearbox oil has been changed at 3yrs 37.5k. Costs a lot, but the Ford dealer said the only boxes they've had problems with have gone over the oil change period.

Only problem with the facelift is the 19" wheel which means north of £800 for decent tyres. He's won't tell anyone how much he paid for a full set of Pilot Super Sports.

Nice car Howard looks smart. I don't think you can get a car which offers so much for the money. I used to dislike the Mondeo, but after owning my mk3 I think it's a great car for the value of money.

Indeed, I've booked mine in to be done. Small price to pay in order to make sure the 'box lasts IMHO. They ain't cheap!

Not seen these before, looks great congrats! Ford quote 36.7mpg combined; let me know if you get anywhere close to that :)

I'm not keen on the exterior looks (think the ST220 is a better looker), but the interior looks very nice. Is the powershift box a flappy paddle job or sequential through the stick job? I'm clueless, I've only used the VAG flappy boxes a few times.

Looks a nice example, I couldn't really fault my 2.0 TDCi Titanium X Estate other than the dodgy centre console plastics. It's a hefty car though, very wide!

Does yours have adaptive cruise control? I thought that's what the slots in the front bumper were for? Or do all Sport models have those Slots?

You can shift manually using the lever, no paddles.

It doesn't have ACC, no. The slots I presume are just styling :)

Wow - a Mondeo with nearly equivalent spec to my Scorpio!

I think we'll be getting the wife one of these when hew Astra dies. She had a 2001 2.0i Ghia X Mondeo before the Astra and we really liked it - the new model looks a cut above.

I've got a similar Mondeo, mines the 2.2TD though. Mine is a 59 plate as well.
I've had it for a year and absolutely love it, however I've had an issue with the sat nav arise last week.

Basically the sat nav will reset itself, lose all the stored locations, default to KM and set the location as Germany.
However, the radio stations that are stored aren't deleted.

I went to a Ford garage this week and they said it'd cost £3,500 to replace the unit! There is a company online called BBA Reman that will charge around £600 to update the firmware or around £800 to replace the entire unit.
So just be aware if that happens to you
