Hi, this maybe a simple question to you. But I don't know if the following is possible.

I have a computer (HTPC) running Win7 in a cupboard at home. Runs XBMC to my TV in the lounge.

Just wondered if there was anyway i could stream my films and tv shows that are on the HTPC to my ipad/iphone when at home, for instance when in bed.

Is that at all possible. I could have course do it with my laptop as it is networked up to the HTPC. Just new to apple products and unsure of this process.

Thank you

You can install air video and air playit on your PC then download the apps on your ipad. Works a treat you might need to setup a port eset blocked it through the firewall.

I use VLC which seems pretty good, there is an option in the App for streaming from a local file server but I haven't used it myself.

TVersity will allow you to do this (may need to pay for the "pro" version though) I use it to stream stuff to my PS3 all the time and I've used it on my ipad on the odd occasion.

Splashtop allows you to stream your entire desktop to your iPad. I've personally found it quite useful for browsing through my pc files and loading stuff up from bed when I've been too lazy to get up.

Another vote for AirVideo, I use this all the time and it's pretty much faultless. Just make sure the sever has enough grunt to transcode in real time, the HP microserver I had as an htpc could not keep up on larger mkvs.
