Post Your Daily Encounter Pics Here

Seen this mysterious beast today.

Hate it when people buy a really rare car then don't leave any clues on it as of to what it is!

If only there was some way of figuring it out...

Looks like a few Amilcars there. Very nice. No idea what the red one is, but it screams "art deco".

Edit: Just had a quick look on C&C.co.uk and there's a handful of Amilcars ranging from £20k to £40k and more in Euros for one.

The black one did say Amilcar on the grille - I've never heard of them but then I don't know much about cars of that period. Either way they're lovely cars.

Didn't realise you could spec these as an optional extra:

I love 20s and 30s motors. But mostly for hot rods and restomods. Given the Amilcars and the Citreon van, looks like he's building a French collection.

France had tons of manufacturers that folded or merged with others. Check out the former manufacturers.

You didn't happen to get a look at the emblem on the yellow one did you? Looks like the typical "prancing horse" or other animal. If it was a lion, it'll be an old Peugeot.

I know of an old French car on a farm, completely unrestored, id say 20/30s. Thing thats special about is its made out of aluminium so the sheet metal etc is in perfect condition. You know what it could be?

I'd really need pics or an identifying emblem. Aluminium started appearing in car bodies (coach builders) in the early 20th century. Bugatti made some pre WW1. Amilcar made the Compound around WW2. Those are just two I know of. Who knows how many of the defunct shops I linked in my previous post also used coach builders who were working with aluminium.

Dug through some old photos these are the only ones I could find. Think its one of these, though I have no idea which one I was told was 'special'.

Bonus points if you can tell what this is (I already know this one)

The white one at the top is a Citreon or Peugeot from the 1920s, as they were fond of using those solid wheels. The anchor badged car I had no idea. I've never seen it before.

Lovely lovely lovely.

11'000rpm and 1100bhp. :D

Used as the development test bed for the TAG Porsche F1 engine. Makes very few appearances outside of the Unit 2.

See what you can spot in amongst this lot.

Jesus Christ what a machine!

I'd love to poke my nose around Unit 2 one day. Probably one of those places that you remember forever!

Also, I thought the backdrop of that photo looked familiar, I should know McLaren Technology Centre when I see it as I have been there a few times :o

Ok, I was reading the badge wrong. It's not E / S and an anchor. It's E / B and an anchor. It's a Ballot. Holy ****.

That'll be the one then. I'll see if I can get some more pics for you. I know it was being moved from one barn to another last winter, think someone had a camera on them.

The chassis is a Model T.

I think it's a Ballot 2LTS by the look of it, though it's really hard to see the back in that photo. The last sale to be recorded was for just under €62K, so worth a quid or two for sure :)
