NVIDIA Announces Game24, Massive 24-hour Celebration of PC Gaming

Although there have been some very silly comments in this thread (what's new there ;)) there have also been a few interesting points made.
For example, yes the 680/70 cards did have a fairly short realistic user life span due to the 2GB ram and 256bit bus, but they do do rather well in the midrange segment the 760/770, well enough in fact that AMD have just done the same thing to their midrange selection 2GB ram 256bit bus.
Also that short user life span, was it such a bad thing from Nvidia's perspective, people will need to upgrade sooner, another Nvidia card perhaps, more money for them. Not so good for us the consumer but great for them.

lol so anyway :)
is it a proper gaming event
or a super long press event
gaming events normally have competitions we need know about in advance :o

i think its going to be a talking on stage and showing off his tattoo deal?

i really really really hope the 980 would be better than the 780Ti, but i really doubt it.
the only way to see 295 is for Nvidia to push performance.
i dont have any hopes for any 28nm chips from both manufacturers anymore :(

That's fair enough but 1 thing to consider is the price has dropped a lot so i feel Amd had to reduce build cost. Still i feel the 285 is not good enough which is most likely down to how slow the Gpu market is progressing.

I had/still have a EVGA 680 4GB FTW, was fine for 2303x1440p in most games bar a few needing dropped to 1920x1200.

Not sure why peep above is saying 680 is not enough due to 2GB or in his words 2gb.

The 256bit bus is not ideal but as its Quad Pumped GDDR5 is matters less than on older GDDR3 cards.

There is loads of people who would jump at the chance of having a 680/7970. They can still hold their own at 1080P with ease.

My 670s hold their own at 1440p :p They've served me well over the past couple of years or so, but assuming the 900 series is worth jumping to I will likely be upgrading to keep ahead.

I've just sold my 780 Lightning as it was too long for my new case and I've gone back to one of my 680 4gb FTW's, to be honest playing at 1080p I haven't really noticed that much of a difference.

why make an issue of the pricing ?
nvidia like to milk their costumers, and their costumers like to be milked by nvidia.
everyone wins

Indeed but you only need to go back and see how many including yourself owned a gtx680 or more and decided to move on. The higher specced 7970 owners have tended to crossfire or hold on. Off course with this site being what it is a lot have also upgraded whether they had a gtx680/7970 just for the extra performance but more so on the gtx680/70 side. I am not disputing that they were and still are very good performers. Your Gtx680 lightning was a bit of a beast.

Lots of people went from 7950/70's to 290's, I love how you post as fact when you have no idea.

Maybe 7970 owners are much more careful with their money and do not upgrade as often(we can all spin anything)

My 670 was fine on everything i played @ 1920x1200, I upgraded to a 780 because i could ( cost to me was £180 ) but not because the card was slow or limited in some way.

I doubt anyone with a 670 or 680 single card at 1920x1200 or lower upgraded because it lacked anything, they did it because they wanted to not because they needed to ;)

Sshh, dont let logic get in the way of a good theory ;)

I went from SLI 680s to SLI Titans because I wanted to. No need for it but had the cash from tons of overtime and fancied them.
