I'm currently running with the Asus sabertooth 990fx R2.0 board Ive been offered an Asus crosshair v formula-z board.

Is it worth the extra money and hassle?
both boards look to be very similar spec bar the crosshair has extra software for overclocking

The formula-z is better, but marginally so. You need to hit pretty insane OCs to notice, and then you're probably going to limited by other components anyway

I have a 990x r2.0 i can get a nice stable 4.7GHz with an fx 8150 at about 40C (H100i) the crosshair has better VRM cooling than the 990x mine gets a tad warm.

yea Im sitting with a stable 4.3GHz at the moment from my 6350 which with my old gigabyte board I couldn't get near. My plans for the not so distant future would be an 8350 Cpu which does make me think the Crosshair would be a good upgrade to go for.

The crosshair is an amazing board and would definitely recommend it!! Just got my trophy from the corsair domination competition to prove it :D

Pc I get 40 degs under load if you are having no problems with the sabertooth I wouldn't bother I run the 990fx r2 and my dad has the formula z and there is defo not much difference between them for performance
