While I don't at all condone people delivering death threats to some woman who has a completely misguided view of games this is abhorrent that the gaming and more so the horror genre should change their way of protraying women as the victims for the sake of intense horror.

I am a male gamer.

When I see woman treated badly in game this makes me want to play it more to be come her saviour.

The only game where I can see women portrayed really badly is in GTA V but why should that matter?

Yes it wrong but who cares?

Lets turn it around let the feminists of this world make a game where men are slaves to women and submit to their every wish..... oh wait it's already been invented it's called SIMS.

But hey it's only fun.... right? right!

I like how a rather small amount of signatures gets attention, but more important issues rarely get header time.

Oh but wait, its a feminist...so they better report about it or be harassed in hypocritical order.

Though, this mystical guy (which if true, is obviously criminal and should be dealt with) that wants to attack her, if she was any sort of saint she would have just ignored it, but it makes for good twitter posts so...nope.

That thread title...

Also I don't think you really understand feminism or equality in general.

I'm listening please explain.

I don't really understand her issues or their relevance but hey I'm willing to learn.

I wonder what her take is on tomb raider.

Why is she even bothering?

What does she expect to happen?

There are plenty of games with female leads and female characters.

Art imitates life, like I said the fact that some evil character is beating up women doesn't glorify it at all.

If it does to some people then they were deviants from the start.

I'm not taking drugs by the way but perhaps they would improve my posts :p

Didn't it come out that she was creating the death threats herself to backup her little agenda.

I can't be bothered read it to much but whenever I see the word feminism I instantly switch off. Just go on mumsnet and read the feminism section it's ridiculous.

Anita Sarkeesian makes her living out of being a professional victim and all round whiner.

I've read a good deal about her (not the death/rape threat bs) and come to the conclusion that she is pretty self serving and hides this under an agenda of feminism, the type of feminism that poisons everything it touches.

I don't agree with most of what she states. Some of her 'arguments' leave a lot to be desired when it comes to objectivity and honesty, but I'd not stand by threats of the type she and others have received, mostly because no matter what your opinion, that kind of behavior is just wrong, but also because she, and those like her, use these outrageous threats by mouthy adolescent gamers to justify their crusade for feminism.

There's ways to deal with the sort of threats she is getting - go to the police. Not your publisher, or your social media outlets.

People say things based on their beliefs at the time. Other people say the opposite things based on opposite beliefs at the time. The silent majority keep their thoughts to themselves, make a sandwich, and get on with life. The world turns.

I don't get why a certain type of male gamer gets so worked up when a woman has an opinion on the Internet.

BioWare's games, Tomb Raider, The Last Of Us (sort of), umm.... The Sims? There's not that many games with female leads.

Games appeal (in the majority) to males, it's hardly surprising that they also feature (in the majority) males.

In much the same way chick-flicks appeal (in the majority) to women, and so feature (in the majority) females, and are quite often derogatory towards males.

Or lets look at TV adverts: "because mum's are heroes", "that's why mum's go to Iceland", "over the years we've really got to know mums, and take it from us, you're doing great." etc. and which often portray dads as being useless, uncaring, incompetent, or just plain non-existent.

But you don't see us whining like little <female dogs> about it :p

Let's look at that another way - AAA games are marketed and designed exclusively for a male audience. Is it surprising that the people who then play these games are mostly male? It's a vicious circle.

Outside of AAA games, the gaming gender split is fairly even. Woman want to play games and are now voicing the fact that they feel excluded. It's hardly the end of the world.

Have you watched any of her videos? It might help enlighten you as to why it's a problem.

I agree with this to a certain extent, but then as I pointed out in my previous post, there are plenty of blatantly sexist adverts against men, that doesn't automatically mean that all men are terrible dads who can't cook or figure out how to turn on a washing machine.

That doesn't really prove anything though, as it doesn't show what kind of games each of the segments actually play.

I wonder how many of those girl "gamers" are actually just playing farmville heroes saga and similar "puzzle" games which I don't think are really relevant in this discussion, since they don't feature a lead character at all.

You're defending something very bad by pointing out something else very bad. This is ridiculous. Neither should be happening. If you feel strongly about that then don't stay quiet!

Look at how you've put the word gamers. Why have you done this? You have zero evidence that women don't play a range of games and you're immediately discrediting a significant percentage of the gaming market.

Hell the replies in this thread are the clearest evidence that there is a problem, victim blaming in abundance and a lot of "get back in the kitchen' type replies.

Two wrongs don't make a right. If you feel these adverts are sexist towards men, make your voice heard. Feminists hate these lazy, gendered adverts as much as you do.

Explains this retarded bitch very well:

Are you trying to prove her point with language like that?

Marketing cleaning products and frozen food at women is derogatory to men?!

Explains this retarded bitch very well:

Classy :)

You're actually using videos from someone who has these on his youtube:

If men acted like feminists
Which is worse? Christian Reason, Feminism, Islam or Scientology
Why 'feminism' poisons EVERYTHING
Teach them not to rape

And at that point I got bored. Perhaps you shouldn't be following misogynistic people on youtube :)
