I bought an “approved used” desktop for business use (not from OcUK) and it has arrived with half the amount of RAM advertised / shown in my invoice.

I challenged this and the company have said basically it was a marketing error and they will endeavour to improve their advertising methods.

They do not say if they are going to supply me with the RAM as advertised!

So am I right to press for them to either supply me with the missing RAM (2x4GB) or refund me the difference?

As far as I am concerned and as my order confirmation and receipt says I paid for a machine with double the RAM it has now and should I expect them to rectify it or can they hide behind a mistake?

Of course they should rectify it. Either by reducing the cost or sending the correct ram.

Can't hide behind "sorry it was a typo".

if they do not correct the error in the system spec then return it. how did you pay for this ? if you used a credit card and they refused then contact your card issuer and open a case with them as they will assist you.

If you think they can hide behind an excuse of "sorry typo" then I have some bargains you might be interested in. Check your email.

Of course you have rights. You bought item A, you were given item B, it's about as clear cut a "not as advertised" case as you could want :p

Thought so, I've said I will accept either a refund of the difference or the actual RAM as advertised.

There is no loop hole because its a refurb, but sold like new?

I was pretty shocked at how badly worded the email explanation was actually. I suspect the operative doesn't have english as a first language but it's even worse that an international company would try and fob off a customer like that.

As it was a business purchase it was paid by debit card unfortunately.
