Land Rover Discovery Sport 2015

Evoque much?

Edit: Should have shown the 5 door version but it's like the Q3/Q5 photocopier joke.

From the side it looks like something fell on top of the Freelander.

Are they changing the Disco as well or just releasing the Disco Sport?

That's the Disco Sport, not the new Disco, which we won't see until late next year or 2016.

One of the options is the disappearing bonnet. An array of cameras illuminate the road in front of the car to the driver, virtually replacing the bonnet. Epic

That sounds awesome. Though usless for the middle class dropping their kids to school :p

I really like these, having seen them driving around so long at work, they're a great step up in quality versus the outgoing Freelander 2.

I think it looks different enough to an Evoque to separate the RR and Disco brands, especially when Discovery 5 comes along. But at the end of the day, the Evoque and Disco Sport are both the same platform underneath, so there's always going to be some similarity.

The high spec ones are looking pretty expensive compared to the FL2 once specced up.

And I wouldn't want to buy one of the early ones with the old engines, I'd wait until the new ingenium engines appear.

Hate this class of vehicle. Serves no purpose other than giving people the opportunity of calling you a seed spiller

Quite like this, but it got me thinking.
If you actually want a 4x4 for genuine off road purposes, what are the options now?
Defender is going soon, Freelander replaced with this - would you REALLY buy something like this for off road use?
The original Discovery even looked like it could be used off-road but all these newer vehicles don't look it, especially with low profile tyres and fancy grilles etc.

The rear quarter window is a bit awkward, and the rear lights just slightly kill the looks, but overall it seems a nice step up from the Freelander 2.

I nearly bought a year old FL2 Dynamic (sporty model) last month, but with this new Disco Sport coming out and the fact the seating position really felt awkward like you are sat on it, rather than in it, I decided against it.. If they've fixed the seating position which they look as if they have, then it'll be quite a decent family soft-roader.

It's pretty much the same dimensions wise as the Freelander, with same engine range as outgoing model at the moment from the looks of it. It's a teeny bit bigger in length and wheelbase.

It's certainly not a quick car.
