If it can't write to the chip then it won't be a problem as that's where it stores your transaction I believe, so that when you next make a purchase or withdrawal from an ATM it can cross check the previous transaction to authenticate the new one. If that authentication process doesn't happen then it won't allow the transaction to take place. Look up EMV security if you're interested
