Motorcyclists Last Seconds Captured On GoPro

"drive a little slower"??

He was going almost 100mph and they say that might have saved him?

What is "a little slower" in police terms?

Having viewed the footage, would the Clio have had any reasonable chance to see him going at that speed anyway? I can't quite decide: it seems like he would be visible, but a bike is a slim object head on and 100mph is very fast.
The motorbike should have been visible, but judging the speed would have been very hard for the car driver, and perhaps that's why they should have come to a stop. Very sad that the rider is dead, but why would anyone think it's OK to drive at 97mph on a single carraigeway (one-handed at one point) with no barrier between oncoming traffic??? (not suggesting that 97Mph on a motorway is fine by the way).

even at 60MPH that would have killed.

and the car driver still wouldn't have seen him.

It wouldn't have, it may still have.
That extra time could've changed the reaction of both people in the accident to do something different.

They were talking about this on the telly last night. I seem to remember that the car driver was done for causing death by dangerous driving which quite surprised me as although he was in the wrong, I suspect that the person driving most dangerously was the motorcyclist.

in that situation going slower or even faster would have put the motorcyclist in a different situation. a crash at 60 is still going to do damage.

why do you say this? the danger was caused by the person not looking down the road before moving.

if the motorcyclist had been doing the speed limit and the car turned across the path in the same manor it would have resulted in the same outcome.

Except that if he was doing 60mph he would have probably scrubbed enough speed for the impact to be at 40-50mph. That in effect would be an accident with a quarter of the energy and surely a much higher probability of survival.

Ultimately his actions were not suitable for the conditions and he has unfortunately paid the ultimate price for this misjudgement. Fortunately there was nobody in the passenger seat of the car as far as I could tell.

Can't believe the driver got done for death by dangerous driving...

As unfortunate as it is, that video indicates one person at fault, and they paid the ultimate price.

RIP though.

I agree with some people here in that I feel pretty sorry for the driver. True, they should have seen the motorcyclist, but everyone makes mistakes. They could be the safest driver in the world, but for some reason didn't see him this time. Now they're being done for causing death by dangerous driving as well as being banned from driving and probably heavily mentally scarred by the whole incident.

The motorcyclist shouldn't have been doing anywhere near that speed.

Yes the guy on the bike was going too fast but the driver said he didnt see him?

I dont understand, the only place you should be looking when making a turn into oncomming traffic like that is.... towards the oncoming traffic, people like the driver of the car shouldn't be on the roads.
