ok, i'm with BT, just came out of a discount deal

BT are now looking £23 (plus line rental) to go onto infinity and an 18month  contract.

so seriously considering plus net.
i believe they are now owned by BT so are they essentially an LLU?

are there speeds good for normal broadband? and fibre?

what's your experience.

the deals they have suit me as it's all 12month contracts and some good discount offers at moment

thanks :)

I don't know where you got the all 12 month contracts from as fibre packages require an 18 month contract (only ADSL broadband is on a 12 month contract).

I've used them since ADSL and since moved to fibre.

They have been good apart from the fibre setup where the install date they gave me didn't happen and no compensation but otherwise solid connection and no issues. English support call centre, but I've only used it for ordering/retentions.

Good packages and price. I've had a few of my friends switch over and they had similar issues with the setup of their fibre but now are happy I believe.

The fibre installation may be down to local OpenReach engineers too I don't know.

Order via top cash back. They offering £150 cashback

Do this.

Edit: they are 'owned' by BT however don't seem to come under the same BT umbrella. Particularly regarding things like government locks etc.

Been with plusNet for 2 years, as soon as fibre was available from my cab. Never had any issues with their service. I have called tech support a few times and they have always been knowledgeable and helpful resolving my problem or query.

They offer a static IP address for a one off £5 fee which is useful if you host a games server or have security cameras etc.

The actual install is down to OpenReach rather than plusNet themselves.

I looked at going back to Sky but they cannot compete on pricing on 80/20 broadband.

The other option might be to look at the Post Office for line rental and someone like Zen Internet for fibre but it works out a lot more expensive and you have two providers to deal with.

Nothing but good feedback regarding plusNet from me. Take a look on www.thinkbroadband.com, they have a lot of feedback on most providers...

is plusnet LLU on your exchange?
it wouldn't be on mine but I'm hoping it wouldn't make much of a difference with fibre. I think it was a problem with normal BB if the provider wasn't LLU, BT could limit the speeds and such?

it would be so much less hassle if ISPs offered 12month contracts for fibre, you could sign up and if it ended up being that bad move on, it's only a year.
that 6months messes everything up
you sign up to 18months BB
you get line rental saver but that's only 12month, so 6months you have to pay extra or if you sign up, to another line rental saver, your BB will end half way through so you are stuck at this point. crafty so and sos

Zen offer 12 month contracts, but they are more expensive than domestic suppliers. If you don't take their phone line you pay £35 a month for their unlimited 80/20 fibre, or £30 a month + £15.98 line rental. In my experience (I have a couple of ADSL lines and a fibre line with them they are very good, I haven't yet had any cause to call them apart from for an upgrade to fibre. I am thinking of going to zen at home when my BT contract is up, but I still have a few months to decide.

I have had plusnet on and off for years. I had it when it was dial-up and then Broadband. I then had to move to BT and Sky for other reasons but when Fibre came to my area I went with Plusnet again and not had any issues. The only issue I had was due to faulty BT equipment in an exchange. I have got most of my family and friends on it now and get a rebate from all those subscriptions. helps reduce my bill down nicely and I also went for the £5 static IP address which cannot be matched by BT or Sky. Also they dont mind you using your own Router.

thanks, are the routers they supply any good?

I just had mine installed and I was shocked how far the wireless went.....very long Victorian house and then out in garden is fine....router right at the front....worth testing before buying a new one....

Not tested wired on gaming PC but can't see it being an issue....
