NATO Flyby (Newport/Cardiff) - Friday 5 September at 09:00 BST.

Just had a drive through Newport, motorwards and roads are particulaly quiet so not sure what all the fuss is about, obv schools probably closed and people working from home where they can.

Some protesting going on Newport though, people in masks holding banners, and some people with dreadlocks, usual type :p
There's a convoy moving from Celtic Manor to Cardiff Castle, later this afternoon. Same thing but in reverse tomorrow morning.

Calm before the storm...

Got to work in record time today. Deliberately left late so I could blame the traffic. Only took 10 mins from Gaer to Lysaght.
Will have a rethink tomorrow

I can see a sniper on a rooftop from where I'm sat :) apart from that, it's been pretty uneventful. Nipped out to get something to eat and it's really quiet! I'm just hoping the trains aren't messed up come pump o gloch!

I saw an Osprey and a Merlin helicopter on Tuesday near to the Cardif Gate Audi garage, then last night I'm sure we had a Vulcan fly over Bridgend. HUGE and NOISY thing it was, triangular with a pointy nose - definitely too large for a fighter jet.

Would the flypast lift off from St Athans?

They were practising the fly past further west. Nothing like a Vulcan involved. According to the press release it is Typhoons, F15/16/18s. Mig 29s, a Mirage and a Voyager.

If XH558 was involved I'm sure we'd have heard about it.

Planning a quick getaway? :D

Nah I was just going to see if I could watch it go by if it was the president, lol Im not far from both on the junctions.

Im at home now and need to revise, so no spotting for me

Drove past the celtic manor entrance earlier there was some very important looking cars, BMW, Mercs etc and people lining up taking pictures, police on guard.

The roads have been ok today though, no real disruption, heard there is something going on in London though, not read up on it yet (beheading)

Its annoying because at every point something comes over, I dont have a chance to get a picture, im still yet to spot any jets but im not in the flightpath obviously, have seen the helis though

Was looking for a possible flight path so thanks for putting one up. I'm hoping they go a bit further North and will be going up the mountain past the Ty Mawr in the hopes of getting a good view...if I'm still awake of course.

It's been pretty cool seeing the various helis going over but annoying as we've been banned from flying our RC planes until the summit is over and of course the weather was great earlier and looks to be brilliant for flying later on :/

Just seen the fleet of planes fly over in straight formation, should be in newport soon :)

They didnt go right over us but close enough to see the flightpath and watch them go past, not close enough to get a video/pics

Watched them go overhead in Newport, pretty close from where I was.
Trouble is, I'm short-sighted, but I think I saw a couple Migs, F15's, Euro fighter, 9 Red Arrows (may have been 10, was busy at the time), a large jet that I have no idea on.

I think. My aircraft identification knowledge is quite bad these days.
