Londoners, how long is your daily commute?

Live in North London zone 3, 20 minute walk to Piccadilly line 30 minute tube to central, 10 minute walk to work. so an hour. I could make it quicker by getting the bus to the station but I like to walk.
 
45 minutes door to door on the Hammersmith & City line. Pretty decent tbh on the new fully air conditioned trains that are essentially one carriage.
 
I used to live about a 2 minute walk from Bounds Green Station on the Piccadilly line traveling in to St Paul's/Bank. Would take me about 35-45 minutes door to door, which I was pretty happy with.
 
I'm zone 3/4 border (SE9).

I drive in most days and it takes (on a normal day) about 45-50 mins with half of that being the first 3 or 4 miles around Blackheath/Greenwich of the 9.5 miles journey.

When I train in the actual train journey from Kidbrooke to London Bridge is stated as 17 minutes, but I usually leave at 7.45 to be in work by 8.45.
 
If i take the fast train i can do romford to stratford in 6-10mins. Then i catch the central line for a further 20mins.

30-40mins on the fast train.

On the way home there is no fast train so it takes about 1 hour door to door.

i think its about 17 miles by car.

I'd rather live closer to friends. I used to commute over 1.5hrs door to door, and whilst it was horrendous, I was near friends at the weekend and in the evenings. If all costs are the same in terms of rent, a short commute (if you get a season ticket it won't be that much anyway) would far outweigh the "advantage" of living close to work.

Agreed, it's much better to live where you're comfortable and settled rather than move just to shorten your commute.
 
Last project was in the City and it was 1:45 door to door. Current project is Richmond and 1:30 door to door.

Yeah its a hefty commute but it means I get to live here:

True that. I made up my mind, especially considering that I seemingly have a shorter commute time than the average here :). Thanks all for your input.

you don't have to live in a council estate and spending 3 hours a day commuting 8-10 hours in the office... you're not going to have time during the week to enjoy any of that

optimum IMO is a flat in London and house in the country for weekends... (at least that's my aim... though am only just over half way through paying off the flat and so not much hope of a second home yet...)
 
Limehouse to Victoria? Get the Thames Clipper to St George's Wharf and walk up the road to Victoria :cool: Coolest commute there is and wave at all the suckahs on the buses and tubes :p
 
Zone 2 north London to zone 1. Takes about 30 minutes door-to-door.

I think that quality of commute is as important as duration. I'd rather sit on one tube reading a book for an hour than have to change three times and end up with my face in someone's armpit for 45 minutes.
 
I leave at 7.35 to get in for 9. I get the 7.59 train, so its a solid 20-25 minute walk to the station. The train is always a bit of a pain though, sometimes it gets into london bridge straight away and i have a lot of time on my hands, or it stops just outside of london bridge and waits for other trains to leave for 10-15 minutes.

Its always packed too :(

I normally take the Jubilee to the o2 and get a bus home, Its just that the bus can be stuck in manic traffic in the mornings, so i go train.
 
Normally under 45 minutes.
I can get anywhere from Paddington to Canary Wharf in about that time too, which is handy as I frequently work in different locations across town.

That's living in zone 3 SW London.
 
Kennington to Knightsbridge cycling is 20 minutes door to door. Walking about an hour door to door.

Getting a bike has saved me so much £££
