New house only has two carpeted rooms but we have the fluffy beast below who leaves fluff everywhere.

We have the wireless dyson pet vacum from our old flat but it just doesnt get the fluff out of our thick carpets. Can anyone reccomend a decent vacum, have looked at the dyson's but they just seem expsensive becuase they have the dyson name.

Your choice might be limited after the EU ruling that came into effect (earlier this week?), limiting the wattage of vacuum cleaner motors. ;)

I dont have any pets (hate animals :p) but i have bought plenty of cars full of animal hair before, and have a partner who seems to shed inexplicable amounts of head hair in her dressing room.

I say whatever you get you must get one with an active brush. You mention not wanting a dyson but we have a Dyson animal (DC07 maybe?) and it really is a very effective cleaner and has lasted for years. I am sure the newer models are even better.

An agitator brush is a must for carpeted rooms. Got a Miele 2200w vacuum, which is great on hard floors, but even on a rug its a pain without an agitator brush.

You can get refurbed dysons on ebay if you don't want to spend a lot.

As an aside, this ban on powerful hoovers, surely people are just going to vacuum for twice as long instead? Utterly bonkers. I use a green Henry with the powered brush attachment btw, does the job very well.

iv got a green peace tree hugging eco warrior vax and its actually very good. not as well thought out as a dyson but its not lacking when it comes to getting the carpets clean

I've got a beagle! and it's hair is everywhere! Only thing I have found that works is the Dyson DC41 animal! it's powerful! but the price tag is off putting!

I have just brought a Miele 2000w vacuum but not used it yet as waiting for bag to fill up on old Bosch or gaffa tape to come off - I have looked at these Turbo brushes and the price put me off.

Should I really fork out for one - Do they really make a big difference ?
