Has anyone ever tried the 'hair dryer and can of compressed air' dent removal method?

Tomorrow I am giving my other half's car a good going over in order to make it look as good as possible in a part-ex situation, and there's a dent in the boot lid that looks like it may well be receptive to this kind of treatment.

Has anyone tried it? Is it as easy as it looks in the YouTube videos? Is there a chance it could knacker the paint?

I was worried that you'd bent the Mondeo to begin with ;)

I haven't tried this method before. Could you remove the rear trim and try and push the dent out from the inside?

Don't bother, just slam the bootlid, if that doesn't shock the dent out, then the hot/cold is unlikely to work either..

I tried it on some small dents in my roof rail sections and they didn't budge, then it dawned on me that in reality unless the 'dent' is so minor that it's just the metal not quite able to spring back and is held under slight compression then it won't work, and actually a small shock (like slamming the bootlid) would probably be just as effective.

I had to get a PDR guy out to do mine, and clearly most dents require quite a bit of force to bend the metal out.. If you can get access to the back of it, then it's much easier to do, otherwise they have to glue and pull the dent back out.

Howard will end up with a Father Ted style Rover :D

I lol'd.
