Hi a friend recommended this site with regards to help building a pc.

I've been playing games on a laptop but think its time for a desktop, so I need everything.

I play WoW D3 Heartstone and league of legends.

I'd like an SSD I already have a keyboard/mouse and will need an OS. I have a £600 budget.

Thanks in advance

I think you can get windows 8 for free for 3 months. So that free's up some of your budget. Im not sure how you'd go about installing it on first install tho.

i've also heard that windows 9 might be free on release, so if you install windows 8, then windows 9 might be out within the 90 day windows 8 period, and you can just upgrade, so free OS!
- that is, if the rumours are true.

and if you can get away with saving £75 on the OS, then you could put the extra money towards a better CPU - maybe intel? - for which you'd also need an motherboard for intel CPUs.

Do you know the component market at all, to know what's decent or not?

Also, have you built a PC before?

You have the SSD and can add a larger mechanical drive for extra storage later on if needed. And upgrade GPU to a GTX 760 or similar when you save up a bit more*.

* You may even wish to buy a second-hand GPU for the same money to begin with, that'll give you better performance. OcUK can still build it for you without a GPU, and then you can add one fairly easily. Bear in mind the PSU depending on the GPU, though.

Don't think Windows 9 will be free except for owners of Windows 7 or 8 licences?

If you want OcUK to build it for you, you need to open a thread in the Customer Service forum.
