Thanks for the replies managed to book Yotel which looks decent with good reviews for around £1000 for six nights. Was fairly cheap compared to others and in an ideal location. For those wary of edreams I booked yesterday evening around 7pm and confirmed my seats on virgin website around 12am. Some people on HUKD booked via Expedia. Need to start planning what to see now. Recommendations?

I can't book my seats yet (60 days apparently, but I can login and see all my details), looks like I fly out there with Virgin on an Airbus A330-300 and fly back with Delta (Virgin) on a Boeing 737-800.

Good planes?
 
It's delta, which means they'll mess the flight up and say the next flight isn't for three days(even though they have several a day). Then spend several hours on the phone not taking no for an answer being bounced fro,m one department to another) and they finally stick you on another airline. God delta are bad, every flight was delayed.

Sounds fun...

We leave JFK at about 8:30pm on Satrday and get back to LHR at 9am on Sunday, the other half has to be in work Monday first thing so fingers crossed any delay isn't that bad.
 
We stayed at Hotel Metro West 35th St just recently.

Nice hotel, but not overly flamboyant. Great location, just off Herald Sq.
 
I've visited NYC countless times, and been in various hotels.

One I'd recommend would be the Affinia Dumont 150 East. Offers some of the biggest rooms in the city and are extremely comfortable.
 
I've just seen the reviews for edreams, not sure how it'll affect me especially as I can already login to the Virgin website and see my flights.

Providing they've passed on my booking to Virgin (which they have) then that's their involvement done surely?

If you see it on Virgin you are all set I'd suggest.

Yeah, can login with my last name and e-ticket number it shows the passengers on the flights. I can select seats 60 days before we fly, purchase extras etc...

No idea if my booking has been passed to BA for my flight to Oslo but as I'm not taking it then it's of no bother.

Now that Virgin has my booking I've no need to ever hear from edreams again, if I have a problem with the flight then it's Virgin I speak with as I have a valid paid for ticket.
 
Double check directly with Virgin that your flights are actually booked. Edreams are a disaster to deal with and are known to take the money and not actually book you on anything!

Surely having a login to the Virgin website with both our names against both flights counts as having a booking?
