halifax account / scottish split

if Scotland decides to bugger of on there own the Halifax will then be part of Scotland as they are in the same group as bank of Scotland. so with this in mind and the fact the votes looking more and more like a YES split would you swap your money to another bank just incase anything happens?

If you have a HBOS or RBS bank, you should max out your credit card and when Scotland become independent tell them to whistle for your money and see how they like it.

Natwest would be the one to worry about, as their parent is RBS.

Lloyd's is actually registered in Scotland. They used to be in England but when they took over TSB they merged the companies and continued with the TSB registered address is Scotland.

Lloyd's have said they would consider moving to England again if the Scottish go independent.

If Scotland does become an independent country as looks increasingly likely then I for one will wish them all the best and I certainly hope the UK would do its best to achieve a smooth transition to independence. That said, I'd want all my financial products and services that I buy to be governed by the local regulatory framework, and would move any that are currently held in Scotland (my pension is) to one in the rest of the UK.
