RTS games like WH40K DoW

I recently went back to playing DoW Soulstorm which led me to buy DoWII Retribution (which is so disappointing) in a hope that it would be ok, but it's completely different to DoW

I am still playing through the singleplayer campaign of DoW2 Retribution but it seems so tedious, the control system is terrible as you can't define control groups and the UI just seems like something is missing.

Anyway, are there any newish games similar to the original WH40K Dawn Of War that are worth playing :confused:

I think the only RTS I have played which is similar is Starcraft 2

Company of Heroes is quite similar, although is a bit closer to DoW2.

I don't know of any other games which are similar =/

Agreed, although I find this applies more to the single missions and not the campaign.

Original DOW game was brilliant, DOW 2 spoiled it a bit without proper base building. Never found anything afterwards that wants to make me play RTS.

CoH is essentially the same game as it has the same developer and publisher.

DoWII just feels like a poorly made unfinished mod based on CoH

(and I didn't even like CoH much)

I noticed there are some mods and a community patch for retribution so might try those once I've finished singleplayer but think I'll maybe go back to Soulstorm or Dark Crusade for online play.

DoW and CoH are essentially the same.

DoW 2 and CoH2 are pretty close to being the same as well.

They are based on a similar engine I guess but they look and play completely differently

Coh, dow2 and coh2 are all on the same engine I believe (Essence iirc) DOW is a different one

The advent of the fliers absolutely ruined that game. Besides, is there actually any online servers up?

Warhammer Mark of Chaos perhaps? Classic warhammer though not this futuristic business.

Soulstorm was pretty bad, I think it was a month or two after soulstorm came out that I stopped playing online

I'm just not sure if anyone plays Dark Crusade anymore

I think I might get steam keys for Dark Crusade and Winter Assault as I have boxed copies (already redeemed soulstorm on steam and got dow gold in humble bundle)
