One of my most favorite games is being remade I just hope they do it justice.

The music was one of the most perfect times I had with a game of this genre.

Sierra studio brought one pure gem of a game onto the market.

A remake of Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers is in production.

The 1993 point-and-click adventure will be updated with HD graphics, new voice acting and a remastered soundtrack.

'Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers' 20th Anniversary Edition

The remake - previously known as 'Mystery Game X' - is officially licensed by Activision and is being developed by series creator Jane Jensen and her independent studio Pinkerton Road.

Jensen told GameTrailers that the game will stay true to the original, explaining that they do not want to mess with a formula that works.

"We are adding in a few new things here and there, but I wanted the original to be fully represented," she said.

"One of my goals going in was to pump up the New Orleans flavour and also the spookiness where possible, so there are a couple of new backgrounds and puzzles that aim to do that.

"But that's on top of the original content, not replacing it.

"Ultimately, the heart of Sins of the Fathers is a thrilling and compelling story mystery story with a romantic twist, and that still holds up."

The 20th Anniversary Edition of Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers will be released on PC, Mac, iOS and Android in 2014.

very nice, been following her other announced game mobius and enjoyed grey matter despite the budget issues! Also enjoyed cognition which she was involved as a story consultant. GK2 was my favorite of the series as i'm a sucker for 90s fmv but haven't played gk1 since the early days as the gog version sound is bad, and didnt work on android dosbox turbo for some reason, so looking forward to this. i hope it doesnt have grey matters and cognitions un-animated comic book cut scenes however, they kinda annoyed me.

official website is here with a few more screenshots http://www.gabrielknight20th.com/

this is the kickstarter which is funding both Mobius and the Gabriel knight remake (originally "mystery game X")http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1005365109/jane-jensens-pinkerton-road-2012-2013-csg

435k not bad budget for 2 adventure games i think.

Oh god ! What brilliant memories that piano music brought back ! Fantastic series. I really miss truly excellent story telling like that in games today.

If no one has encountered the first Gabriel Knight game I can really recommend this remake. It takes me back to one of the best point and click games ever to be produced.
The updated version stays true to the core of the original that came out over 20 years ago. Hell even if you played the first one I would say get the remake it will bring you way way back to that time.

The music is still amazing too.

:)

i heard the remake has been really dumbed down from the original? eg they made certain locations that were originally available at the start of the game, nt available until later to make it easier and also they cut a lot of the original dialogue from examining random stuff etc. a lot of people are just saying play the original again! Im bored of these dumbed down adenture games where the puzzles are real easy and youve only got like 2 screens to explore at once! Still might buy it though as increases chance of gabriel knight 4.

I am currently on day 4 bud and even though i have not played it since the original i have to say i am pleased with the remake. If you do play it make sure not to use the hint system though as i agree that sort of thing makes adventure games way too easy nowdays. I am suprised how many puzzles i can remember the solution too even though i played it originally 20 years ago and even though the voice cast isnt as good as it originally was the story and music are as good as ever. For the modest price id give it a solid 8 out of 10 and even a 9 if you loved the original.

Great news indeed, best old style point and click adventure I've played, great acting and story, which leads to the question, why are they doing new voice work?

I think they either lost the recordings or they were in such a condition they had to redo them. No chance of getting some of the original voice cast as a few of them have since died.

Quite possibly. Jenson has so much talent I wish she would do more games, Gabriel has a few stories left in him yet...

played this the other night, fears confirmed, would rather just play through the original again, why did they have to make so many of the locations inaccessible from the beginning, voodoo shop, gabriels grandmothers, drug store!, why so dumbed down! hints are set to off but the jornal is still full of hints and importnt dialogue choices are highlighted, the tape recorder from the original is gone.. a direct 1-1 remake with an optional hint system would have been far better.
