Do you have Virgin media... if so maybe you can help me?

Car insurance is up for renewal and this has prompted me to give Virgin a ring to sort out my package with them also.

Currently paying £76/m (£60.25 + £15.99 line rental) for:

120MB Broadband
XL TV
Tivo + additional V HD Box
Talk Weekends

I did have a letter through last month about 'upgrading' to their Big Kahuna deal so I'll see what they say tomorrow.

I think if you have the movies, and sports channels it really bumps it up.

Also if you need to phone them, otherwise nothing will happen. There automated call system is shocking though and takes far to long, just to speak to a human.

I keep ringing SKY to cancel my movies and sports and they keep giving me 3 months half price lol. I've had half price for a year now (6 moths initial for joining, then 2 x 3 months for ringing to cancel :P

This is my Virgin package. I think the international is about £2.50pm.

I rang up to leave and they offered me £3 off my bill a month... WOW! Currently looking at alternatives

Was that your first time neogotiating? Because when I did I managed the knock £18 off the bill. Was quite surprised, my dad tried doing the same thing but they just got him on direct debit so no more £5 charge, so not really a saving.

Currently paying 45 for 'Big Kahuna', after 6 months this will go upto 62 or so.

- 500gb TiVo
- 230 channels
- 152mb
- Talk weekends
- Line rental

As mentioned earlier, if you're going to ring them bring up cashback, I've not paid a penny yet and have had the service just over 6 weeks. First bill is 22 quid.

I have the following paying £43.99

152MB
500GB Tivo Box
M Line Rental
XL TV Package (All except extra packages)

I pay £1 more for the same, except broadband is only 50Mb - Looking at current prices it's about £17/mo discount
Had a free month of all the sky movies channels at the start and I think a one-off discount at some point.

I've cancelled now three or four times - every time they put the price up, and every time my price goes down (or stays the same and I get more stuff).
You have to actually go through with the cancellation if you want a decent deal and wait for them to call you a few days later, and then do some haggling with them.

Yes first time. I only have their broadband nothing else so maybe that's why I get the tiny discount. Will try again today.

Me too, I think each salesperson has a certain quota on how much discounts they can give on a day. Just keep phoning up until you get a satisfactory deal or look elsewhere.

Virgin have been relentlessly sending us stuff through the post to wrestle us away from Sky. Deal we have been offered is the Big Kahuna deal at £35.00 p/m plus a phone at £15.99. Seems like to standard offering on their website.

Might be tempted to go all in but have heard conflicting reports in regards to their fibre optic.

Is their fibre optic reliable?

It varies per area really, I'd search the first half of your postcode on their official forums to see if anything comes up, in high population density areas they have oversubscribed so it means generally poor performance all round. But in LU3, I get like 98% uptime.

That is a concern. I have just called them and they have stated I should expect a minimum of 80 to 90meg which is a fair bit faster than the 56 I receive with Plusnet.
