This is not good news:-

To give you an example, 4790k's are now £10 more for me to buy compared to end of July early August. That's on a £200 product.

This has now filtered into our CPU pricing, it is also the reason why the next delivery of 295 X2 have also increased by £30 as we had to simply re-purchase dollars at a far worse rate for new order. :(

Not good news, need the pound to strengthen. :(

Lets hope the pound does not further weaken, it was doing such a great job at strengthening, come on UK fight this and it is no doubt being caused by Scotland wanting to go independent causing confidence in the GBP to weaken. I hope Scotland stay in the UK, them leaving will not be good for UK businesses like ourselves, but as there are no premier Etailors in Scotland for computer hardware it is also bad for them.

Depends on the outcome of the Scottish referendum. The big drop off is largely due to uncertainties of the result of this and the effect it could have on the currency. If they vote no then it should recover. Yes and that is anybodies guess :D.

Since the scotts are going to fairly loaded once out of the union, how about ocuk puts a surcharge on all orders from Scotland and they can subsidise the price increase they are causing:eek: Just saying:D:o

The pound will bounce back regardless if Scotland leaves or stays.

How fast depends the answer. The uncertainty is the one that drives the currency down.

nah the best days were when 1£ was equal 1 euro for me at least , also stores didn't increase prices much back in that day

It should only filter to things out of stock, that you have to buy in the future, as applying it to your in stock now products is just profiteering

It's pretty standard practice to price based on replacement stock prices rather than original stock prices, particularly with products that are in a competitive market place.

Bloody Scotland

Why thank you. You will neverrrrrrrrrrrr take our FREEEEEEEEDom. Oh and please remember William Paterson, a scot, founded the Bank of England in 1691-94. Would you believe it, aye. :D

Oh and perversely, an Englishman founded the Bank of Scotland, go figure.:D

This will be the case all over the UK. Its out of our hands. There will surely be a huge rise in inflation. Won't look good for the current Government and I guess its going to effect us on all imports.

I guess it might be a good reason to fix all utilities & bills before the Scots make their decision. That goes for everyone whether its looking after a business or just your own household I guess.

I tend to shop at LIDIL where around 70% of products are sourced from the UK so price rises won't effect me so much as someone who shops at TESCO.
Perhaps good reason to stock up the fridge & freezer.

But back to GPU's and computer parts.
Is it going to be a case of price rises or possibly a hedge against this inflation. Try and increase sales dramatically on the run up to Christmas to compensate for a slowdown next year?

You've got me thinking at the moment. Do I buy all my new rig now or wait for 5th Gen CPU's come out and expect a 10%-20% price rise.

But your current stock which was purchased when the pound was strong will remain unchanged until the new stock filters through, or will the price rise immedately on all stock you currently have ? ;)

Long gone are the days before the recession where i remember the dollar was 2.20 or so to the pound, may have peaked even higher than this cannot remember
