Ebay headache, can anyone help please :(

Hi

I just wanted some advice please about a expensive ebay purchase of alptop costing almost £700. To sumarise, the item arrived nothing as described, i opened up a ebay dispute in the resolution center in MY Ebay and the seller agreed to refund me fully but to return the item to them.

The problem is that, in the resolutuion centre it instructed me to send it to, lets say, Adress A. No problem, when i contacted the seller to confirm this address he says no this is not his address and instructed me to send it to Adress B. When i phoned ebay, they told me no his paypal adress is Adress C.

I am confused right now, I know that I should only send to a paypal verified adress, but his adress C is only paypal verified. I phone paypal and they told me you can have more than one address to your ebay and paypal account.

Paypal said, just send it to the address provided in the My ebay resolution center that is Adress A, but i said nobody lives there and what if they dont take the laptop. What will happen to the machine if they dont take delivery then the item is going to be brought back to me. They said its ok because on attempted delivery i will get a full refund BUT if the item is brought back to me and paypal refund me. It means that I have both the item and my money. I dont want that, the only issue is he will knock on my door asking for the laptop. what do i do, give him the laptop? then i would have no proof that i sent it to him and he took delivery?

what to do, i am kinda confused, I just want this idiot to get his laptop and me my money.

any help appreciated.

Send it to the address in the resolution centre, make sure you send it via a registered and insured method. (Alternatively ask sender to update his details with ebay before sending or ask ebay to escalate the case).
 
Rule 1 when dealing with Paypal, do exactly what they say, to the letter.

If it's returned after being sent to Address A, you'll get a refund and can always be ethical and send it on to the sellers other address, if you send it to Address B or C you will get nothing and possibly lose the laptop too.
 
Yup.

100% In the post to the Address supplied in the Ebay resolution process.

Once they have tracking that says its there or attempted to be delivered they will automatically give you the money back.

DO NOT POST IT TO ANY OTHER ADDRESS. If Ebay see a postcode on the tracking that doesn't match the return address they will not refund you.
 
As others have said, my suggestion is through Paypal, to the letter exactly. If anything does pop up, Ebay and Paypal will have your back. Just be sure to send it insured.
 
Ok, thanks guys really appreciate it. Me getting my money i am happy but i also want him to get his laptop too, i dont want to post it to address A and someone else gets it and ends up with his laptop but i get refund. He is most likely going to come to my house and cause trouble.

No.

He needs to change the return address on his account. His account is obviously set up with an old address. Tell him to change it.

Then contact ebay and ask them what to do. As ebay and paypal protection wont cover you.

Record the conversation to cover all bases and if they say yes send to address B then do so. and if they then turn around and say you sent it to the wrong place you can simply play them back the recording.

Without sounding rude, you have been told/advised what to do by paypal and people here. If you send it anywhere except the paypal address you lose the paypal protection.

Send it to the paypal address only.

The only other option you have is to contact the seller and tell him you will only send it to the paypal verified address - so he either updates paypal to his new address or you send it to the old one - your concern is getting your cash back, it is his fault if he is too stupid/lazy to do a 2 min job of updating the address.

Also, are you sure he is not trying to scam you? ie send it to the address he want, he gets the laptop and claims it was never recieved, you lose your claim as you didn't do as paypal advised.

Lastly, sure the email just received is from ebay/payal?

The Ebay return address Overrides the Paypal one mate. As Ebay policy states to send it to the Ebay address supplied. Paypals resolution now diverts you to ebays now. Unless you dont use ebay for an oirder
 
I refuse to send it back to him untill he changes everything and ebay message me clearing it to send.

How do i escalate a case after he decided to refund me, i cant find a button anywhere?

paypal told me to phone ebay and ebay staff HAVE NO CLUE, they are based in philiphines i think and are beyond useless. I been on the phone for 47min so far and still holding. The first person I spoke to told me to send it to address he asked, honestly that is what she said, when i asked to talk to manager she put me on hold and then the phone cut. Second time the phone cut and i am still holding again.

He agreed to change the paypal address and ebay adress to the new address.

so when he changes it, how do i check its checked phone ebay?

My bad - i menat to say, whatever address they are been told to send it back to, use that and no other.
