Thanks for that.

I am dealing with it thanks.

What I take offense at is people getting upset about 43 dogs when we live in a world of animal abuse.

Dog is worth saving? The Badger isn't?

Wonder if there will be volunteers at the Badger cull with blankets - like there was at the fire?

I've got a 24 ounce porter steak tonight...hmmmm I like it bloody rare MOOOOOOOO.

Vegans and veggies look like goths all pale and lifeless.

lol

What exactly is a straw man about it? Humans are after all just another animal.

If you/the op don't have an answer then just go ahead and admit it, rather than trying to divert away from the point by using the "OMG straw man!!!oneone" catchphrase which seems to appear on virtually every thread on this forum where someone doesn't have a witty retort to a point made by the opposition.

You were subverting OP's argument by diluting it to represent a rather absurd position.

As for the question: you asked OP, but my answer would be "no".

There are various reasons for that, but intelligence, self-awareness, agency, and the knowledge of the direct impact on loved ones of their death, are just a few.

So what about all the ones stretched across the inside of your car? How'd you judge those ones? Colour or how soft and nice they feel against you?

Or the ones stretched over my feet, or the one around my waist.
Or the ones my family consumes in front of me every evening.

Aww!! poor doggies!

They are just child substitutes for many families anyway.

So you're a hypocrite. Like you're calling everyone else. You can get off your high horse and deal with it. Good for you, you don't eat meat. But don't dare try and pretend you're better than anyone because of it. Especially when you're speccing cars with leather interiors, sitting room furniture in leather. Leather shoes. And using medicine that is tested on animals.

I'm not speccing cars with leather interiors.

I bought it second hand as it was cheap.

I'm pointing out that 60 odd dead dogs is nothing compared to what goes on your plate.

So now you're having a go a women who can't have children.. well done. Now grow up. I'm sure his trolling.

Or chose not to have children.

I'm sure adoption would be way more rewarding if you was in a position to have children naturally?

Dogs are not really any different in this case, and as such it's not really an absurd position.

We, as humans are still animals, no matter how much you want to argue against it.

The question: "what makes a human life any more valuable than that of a dog?" is not really any different to "what makes a dog life any more valuable than that of a cow/sheep/chicken/pig?"

If you want to try to argue that mourning the loss of a dog whilst eating meat is hypocritical, then it follows that mourning the loss of a human whilst eating meat is also hypocritical.

Of course the reality is that the intelligence/mental capacity, personality and companionability(probably not a real word, but you know what I mean :p) of a dog is far greater than that of a cow/sheep/chicken/pig, in much the same way that that of a human is far greater than that of a dog.

Dogs and Cats are a problem.

I am in favour of bringing back the dog licence to be honest.

There are way too many unwanted pets.

Dogs and cats aren't proper nouns.

And yes, like everyone else here, I agree that you are being hypocritical.

And I'm still frankly shocked that you don't think it's right to be sad about animal death in, what you consider to be, 'minor' form.

You bought it with leather because you wanted leather. If you wanted cheap, it would have been cheaper in a different trim level. Stop bull****ting.

You're pointing out how much better you think you are than everyone else because you don't eat meat and care more about the animals because you don't eat meat. Yet continue to use products derived from the slaughter and suffering of animals.

You. Are. A. Hypocrite.

To be fair,

He never said it wasn't right to be sad about the deaths of a number of dogs - just that it's hypocritical when the individual in question supports other actions which result in the deaths of significantly more animals.

Strange how I've become hardened to dead animals.

I see them every week in the supermarket.
