I recently went on a stag party with a bunch of my old school friends. This stag party was in Ibiza, so even to book things before leaving cost a hefty amount of money, probably around £300.

On the first night of four, I had my phone stolen by a pickpocket while I was trying to stop my outrageously drunken friend being mugged/going off with hookers.

I am pretty frugal and bought this phone for myself just two months ago, the first time I bought a new phone in five years! Another £250 down the toilet. Spending money on the trip was probably in the region of £200, though I don't have many regrets here as we did some cool stuff.

I can feel a little better when I consider that I supported my first buddy from school to get married by going to his stag party. I can also accept losing my phone a little bit as at least I stopped my friend getting mugged or worse.
But all in all, I just spent a hideous amount of money for no good or gain. I spent it with people who get drunk and take drugs and that is the height of their ambition. I have no problem with this or them.

I however am smarter than that, I am better than that and I already knew this lesson so did not need to learn it again.

I am so Frustrated! Why didn't I say I couldn't make it all those months ago!? Its been a few days now and still my frustration is dampening at all, how the hell do I get rid of it!?

Sucks about getting the phone stolen, are you seriously saying you went to Ibiza and regret it? As long as you didn't take drugs yourself I can't really see what is getting you down, obviously going to be a bit of a low after something like that but your post doesn't seem to convey it being that.

I went to Ibiza, blew a grand, came back wasted, took me months to get over it...

It was great lol!

Sometimes you need to experience these things to make you more aware of what you want.

I think my problem with it is that I knew this already before blowing the money, could have been better spent on something I actually enjoyed or with people I care about more

Nope, didn't take anything at all. I think its potentially getting my phone nicked while trying to look after someone incredibly wasted. I mean its a good thing he's okay but I can't help but be ****ed off I'm essentially down £250 for a tool

Ah yeah I get that, I take a lot of care of my own **** so to have it messed up due to someone else's carelessness would irk me.

It sounds like money well spent! As you've realised that you're better than all the people you went with!

that wasn't quite what I meant, if they wish to blow money doing that and they enjoy it, fair play to them. I knew I wouldn't enjoy it, yet it happened anyway. I think the phone getting nicked tipped me from mild annoyance to outright frustration

It's only money, as long as it hasn't left you in financial trouble then just forget about it and move on.

FYI I spent over £200 on my first night in Ibiza at Space. Don't regret it at all.

Next time take a "stunt" phone as a colleague used to call it :S mostly from other people's experiences I've stopped taking my nicer phone with me on nights out.

just claim on your travel insurance
EDIT: thinking about it, you would have had to have reported the crime there and got details of that for any claim

In all seriousness though, if you knew you weren't going to enjoy it, why did you go? I can completely understand your frustration, especially with your phone being stolen as well. Personally, I just wouldn't have went.
