Super Smash Bros, for Wii U and 3DS

Ok this is my first proper smash bros game in all honesty.

And I don't get it.

I seem to be flying around mashing a and b and having no clue how to knock my opponent out in the most effective way.

Are there any move lists or something?

Ok...on GameCube it was A LOT easier to get your smash's etc due to flicking the C stick in the correct direction for a power move.

The main thing on 3DS you need to get used to is holding in A + Direction for your more powerful smash attack...these range from combo's with a powerful finish or a straight out power attack. These moves give you the best chance of getting a KO when %'s are high.

In addition recovery is a massive part of the game and if over the edge you are looking at using your double jump and then typically every fighter as an Up + B move which will use the fighter's jump attack...nice way to help stop yourself fall to your doom.

Personally my downfall in smash is that I forger about blocking and grabbing...I never really use them :p

Really enjoying the demo, thanks again Cav!

I am glad I have a 3DS XL though, the camera is zoomed out pretty far, but the game plays very well and is a nice mix of Brawl and Melee.

I'm having seconds thoughts about getting this on 3DS. Simply because if I play it on 3DS, it will make the Wii U version less fun since I've played it already. I think I might wait for the Wii U version and maybe get it on 3DS afterwards.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks for your response (and others above!).

So literallt flick and press button to smash on the GC version?

So youre saying that if you press A + direction continously you can land a smash or it could be a combo string? its just random?

Ah good to know. I noticed Pikachu has some kind of wierd teleporting move (in addition to double jumping). Just when I think I smash the furry yellow **** out of the arena, he teleports back in!

See I was same, but then I tried to get into the habbit of grabbing, but again i seem to just miss this all the time!

Think nothing of it buddy.

Yep...and it's precisely the reason they are bringing out that type of control for Smash Bros on Wii U...it's a definite purchase for me :)

Random depending on the Character...Link has a combo with Up + A and others do not...the last blow is usually the most powerful in those combo's.

It's basically all about trying out the characters and seeing what their movesets contain.

Yeah with Pikachu he teleports up but if you press right/left after he teleports up he should go to one of those directions before falling back down.
