Can't believe I just fell for this.

Got a cold call this morning. Young woman who couldn't stop talking. Telling me she worked for a company selling toner cartridges that lasted five times as long as other manufacturers.

Offered me a free football shirt if I accepted, which then got changed to vouchers when I told her I didn't watch football.

Now for some reason I sent her an email with my printer model and the 'code' 175PC written underneath.

A few minutes later, I receive a confirmation email of ordering two cartridges at £175 each.

Quickly sent an email back stating that not once did I agree to paying £175 for anything and that 175PC could mean pieces or pence or anything else.

She phones back, again with the hard sell, at the end of which I told her to cancel the order, whcih she says she will.

Anyone else had this and any nasty surprises.

Well and truly duped

Yes, it's often performed, they also may ask for a home address, so the 'gift' doesn't get lost. Then you get the voucher/tv or whatever and a couple of very expensive toner cartridges, with an invoice. If you complain they start to make waves they may even 'threaten' to tell your boss about the kickback you got...

Make sure you keep an email trail, refuse delivery of the cartridges when they turn up, if you can't send them back recorded and probably insured. I don't think distance selling regulations apply for companies.

Come on everyone, sometimes we make mistakes. I have had some pretty convincing scam calls and some shockingly bad ones. If you haven't come across this sort of thing before then it is possible that the offer of £50 of vouchers will stop you seeing what the call really is.

I've got some stuff you can buy too :D.

Would you like some toner? Not that scam stuff mine lasts 3 times as long and only costs £150.

I think I got hypnotized / sweet talked into it.

She certainly had the gift of the gab.

Saw Joey Essex on Countdown Friday night. ??? WTF
