**** Sony Xperia Z3 ****

Really tempted to leave apple world for Z3 Compact but I suppose the only deal breaker with Sony phones for me is limited number of accessories. I spend 3-4 hours a day using phone as satnav in my car, yet there are hardly any active car cradles for the last three generations of Sony phones, very small number of quality bumper cases and I haven't found a single alloy bumper. :(
 
I should be getting the magnetic dock in and can also get other cases in if people want any opinions on what they are like^^

Business as usual for Sony then. They've always felt the need to charge silly prices for accessories for their gear. It's never made much sense.

£135 to wirelessly charge your Xperia Z3 (£80 for the cover, £55 for the Sony wireless charger). Obscene.

You don't need the cover to wirelessly charge it... the dock is £25 on Amazon, that is all you need to wirelessly charge the phone. The magnetic connectors are on the phone not the cover. You can even get an unofficial magnetic charging lead off Amazon for £8 which will do the job.

Wireless charging and the charging dock are two different things.
 
The magnetic dock would be the faster and more convenient way to charge anyway. No need for bulky cases either.

They essentially do the same thing though right? Allow charging of the phone without messing about with wires... the dock connectors on the phone give the exact same experience as wireless charging, they magnetically grip the phone and charge it without having to mess about with flaps or a usb port.

Yes please. I'm interested in the magnetic dock for the z3 compact. I'm assuming it'll be almost identical if not the same product. I've seen a magnetic dock on Amazon for £24. The dock will be ggreat for the bedside table to just drop on in the evening. :D
 
The wireless case just enables wireless QI charging from a compatible wireless charging base.

The magnetic dock is the sensible option for "wire free" charging.

They essentially do, yes. And personally, I'm more keen on the dock anyway. I was merely commenting on Sony's habit of price gouging on accessories, rather than the usefulness of those accessories. The Wireless Charging Case seems superfluous unless you happen to have a bunch of QI chargers already, but that doesn't alter the fact that the price is just silly.
 
I like the idea of the dock for home. But I'd also like a magnetic cable for work if that's possible. Just looked on the Sony website and nothing immediately strikes me. Just saves faffing about with the waterproof cover to get the micro USB cable in the phone.
