Probably option 1.

If option 2 is exactly as you describe, boat load of money but in a job you hate - JUST a job you hate, then I can probably deal with it. There is more to life than just a job. However, if option 2 is literally just money and everything else was **** then I'd definitely go with option 1.

You can buy whatever you want to try and numb the pain of being unhappy, but that's exactly what you are doing - you're numbing the pain. You're masking the pain. You're not curing it. It will eventually get to you one day, most likely when you're 60 and sat in a spacious living room alone and thinking 'I have all this money, but something is still missing.'

Exactly this. There are a lot of very well off people who do this. I have known people like this.

Happiness.

I have become an obsessed monster wanting as much money as possible. I have too much of it, don't know what to do it with it, don't have anything to spend it on, have no friends, no social life, I just wanted to make as much money as possible as I loved the thrill. And no matter how much I have, enough is never enough. I would not wish this on anyone as it's a horrible obsession to get into bordering on a sickness.

Hey pepsilol, I'll be your friend if you buy me a measley £6.5K car. :p

A 2008~ ish Audi A3 2.0T FSI Quattro S-Line Sportback Manual in white, in good nick, with reasonably low mileage, a good spec and the multi-spoke alloys.

Simply because it is, for some reason, very cheap for me to insure, despite being a reasonably quick car. :D

Well you can't say buy a new TV if it breaks or can't fix your car.
So you have enough to live on but can't just spend what you like.

Well for some people, that would mean not being happy, so that option becomes a paradox.

A balance between both.

Enough money in order to live comfortably. Having enough in the bank to know you don't have to worry about paying the bills or unexpected outgoings, together with the chance to treat yourself every now and again in my eyes would contribute to making me happy.

But I wouldn't completely and solely chase after money.

It didn't for Robin Williams.

Happiness for me please.

That is slightly different, he had incredibly severe depression which he had to battle with daily. Money can't buy you a way to break free from that. :(

Money could buy me happiness... :p
