Help me choose between two headsets :)

I am back and sorry about the late reply!

I have been away busy researching headphones high and low!

First of all thanks for all the advice above to each and everyone of you.

I put my ocd aside with the clip on mic and thought about it in more detail and I came to the conclusion a clip on mic may be better for me. Reason being that i realised I dont use my mic for most of the day until my friends are on in the evening. So having one in my face when not needed is annoying!

I was extremely close to ordering the mmx 300 but after doing some research the AKG's kept coming up. Especially the K612.

After looking around I managed to find AKG K702 Open-Back Dynamic Reference Headphones for £159 and decided to buy those.

Hopefully the little extra for the k702 over the k612 is worth it :D

And for the clip on mic I chose the speedlink clip on mic for £7.50. Hopefully that is spot on for what i need.

what are you using to drive the K702? They are fairly low impedance but are very insensitive and really need amping.

The K702 is one of the very best headphones for gaming thanks to the large sound stage and precise imaging. They are however quite bass light, which is actually a benefit when using them for competitive gaming as you hear footsteps more clearly and can pin point opponents using audio cues. If after using them for a while, you feel that you really need more bass, there is a very easy mod that you can do that makes a substantial difference.

That it is good to hear!

They do look like a stylish piece of kit and the constant reviews over the comfort and light weight of the headset is also an attraction as I can easily game 8 hours a day lol.

The bass wont be a problem for me at all due to me coming from the turtle beach x12 headset. I was quite happy with the x12's in games so the new headset will blow me away as I would imagine :)

I've done the bass port mod on mine but then I don't play competitive games, prefering single player such as Skyrim and for that the extra bass just adds to the immersiveness (is that a word?)
