For some reason in games I am getting insane audio stutter in games when Vsync is on, but when it's off, it's fine, tried all drivers including 14.4, 14.6, 14.7 but it still does it.

What is wrong?

Thanks!

Hello bloodkil,

Sorry to hear of the issue you're having.

What resolution are you using out of interest?

I've actually raised this bug myself with the driver team a few days back. Since then they've reproduced it and are working on a fix. As soon as i have more information on this i will be back to update the thread. Hang tight, a fix is coming in a future driver release.

I can offer this as a possible, temporary fix in the meantime. Please try running dual card crossfire for now, as in my screenshot below. So just disable the third card in CCC, like I've done in the picture below using the CrossfireX tab. Note i have Quad Crossfire so just ignore the 4th card option.

Thanks for the speedy response!

I'm already running a dual gpu setup, it's one R9 290 and one R9 290X. Also, I don't seem to have the option that you mention?

My mistake, i thought you were running three cards from looking at your title.

Does it still occur when you disable crossfire and just use the 290X?

The problem goes completely in these two scenario's

1. Vsync in the game is turned off (which causes screen tearing)
2. And as you mentioned, when crossfire is off.

Rest assured a fix is in the works. I will update you as soon as i know more. :)

Thank you very much, when abouts can we expect a new driver with the fix to drop?

Would be so nice to properly use my cards without the stutter as they both perform like beasts!

That's what i will be back to update you on, It's a high priority fix.

Nice, I had to go through 5 290P/X cards to eventually get 4x290X Hynix cards. :D :p

My first card had Elpida, but had the blackscreen problem so RMA'd and got one with Hynix :D

Got my cards up to 1200/1650 so far, will probs be able to higher with a bit more tweaking :D

Good going. 1200 core seems to be a sweet spot, same as it was with Tahiti.

Water cooling?

The 290X has a Kraken G10 + Corsair H55 with a modded part of the stock cooler on the VRM's to keep temps down.

The 290 has an Arctic Accelero Xtreme IV without the backplate, and also with a modded part of the stock cooler on the VRM's

Has worked an absolute treat :D

Looks good mate. I used an accelero myself previously on my 7970 so i can remember how quiet they are.

Hey AMDMatt, I was digging around trying to see if anyone else had fixed this yet and found this thread. In here you mention that it was a high priority fix that had been identified. Any chance of an update on this? Sorry to keep bugging you, but the squeaky gate etc.

Bloodkil did you find a solution to your stutter?

We did fix an issue similar to this a while back, but it appears this is a slightly different issue that we're still trying to replicate.

Ah weak. For a moment I thought it was being sorted :( I would seriously post my cards off to see if they can reproduce the issue with them.
