BT Wi-Fi Rip Off!

Yet you still paid the £4 to log on here and tell us all this lol

The GF started Uni today and she forgot to upload a photo so they can create her Unicard so I had to spend the £4 to do it for her.

Granted, in the end it was for nothing as the upload would timeout (the .jpg was 1mb in size )

We live in a village so using a 3G modem etc. would be useless but I do get H+ (barely) in the bedroom so ended up tethering my Mac to my phone and doing it that way. Hopefully Orange / EE won't charge me a fortune for doing it!

Regarding the Sky complaints etc., we used them before we moved to BT and we never ever had problems with the service they provided. With BT, we had constant "PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User Request" entries in our logs and the HH5 would reboot every 1-2 hours (not helpful when playing online!)

When I moved from Be ADSL to Plusnet FTTC I was down for about 45 mins while the work was done in the cab and the engineer plugged in the VDSL modem, why did they disconnect you so soon?

We complained about the constant drop-outs and BT did assign us to their Complaints Team in Newcastle and credit where credits due, they were brilliant. But, after 4 engineer visits and changing the router and having a 'lift and shift' the problem only got worse.

In the end we said we were going to change so they just terminated the Internet Service. At first they were going to terminate the phone line too but Sky said that it needed to stay active in order for them to take over the phone line so we gave the complaints team a call and they 're-activated' the phone line but not the Internet.

You will most likely get about 12Mb if your like me. Website said 18Mb but engineer laughed and said "yeh you wont get that, more like 12Mb" :(

Funny the website says i should get 18mb but i get 20mb who do i complain to about this over delivery of service:p

ps, only had to use CS once (my router died). They answered quickly, were helpful and i had a new router a couple of days later.

Yes indeedy, couldn't wait to get away from them after they swallowed up O2.

Nice cheap broadband. And a cheap surplus for not having Sky TV. And a cheap surplus for not having Sky phone.

When you started adding it up, suddenly it wasn't quite as cheap as it was before

I was a happy BE customer when Sky bought them, they reduced my upload and download speeds slightly but when I rang up to ask why they said I would be paying £15 a month (compared the £22 I was paying for BE).

OK then, it was a better £ to Mb ratio at that price point but when I got my first bill it was £25 because of all the surcharges for not having their TV & phone etc. I was misled by their customer services.

I signed up to Plusnet immediately after that.

The BT free wifi is a con as well. They say when you get fiber that you get free bt wifi at over 2 million hot spots and so on. When you try sign up it doesn't work. I finally got an account after trying to call them up about it several times, only for it too work for a few weeks then get disabled again, the password reset not resolving it. I called them up and they said that it was likely disabled due to inactivity. Which means every time i want to use it i have to spend 30-40 mins trying to find the right person to fix the account and then it takes a few hours before it works again and sometimes i've called up and waited the hours and still not worked. So now i give up with it.

Would be great if it worked though as most stations have bt fon. I was once lost in bristol and just walked down a road and used some ones wifi with bt fon standing outside their house full bars.

At least you're not on talktalk. When we moved in here, we told them the address we'd be moving in and the date to get the line activated. After two months they still hadn't got us up and running. That was the final straw. So I moved to plusnet who set us up immediately and I told talktalk to go **** themselves. Worst ISP I've ever had, talktalk.

Talktalk were absolutely flawless for me. Stopped the internet the day before I moved from one property and we were online at midday the next day when we moved in our new house. That included the line change and a new number.

Could not be better served.
