As per title really, I'm after a receiver that'll do a couple of HDMI outputs and has an amplified zone 2 instead of just a preout.

I'm eyeing up the Yamaha RXV775, but £349 was a smidge more than I was looking to pay.

Any other recommendations or suggestions? I'm only running 5.1, and 3-4 inputs (Virgin, PS4, HTPC).

Speaker wise I'm not 100% sure yet, but I'm thinking a mixture of Mission and Mordant Short.

£349 seems cheap! Lol, my Sony DN1040 has it and I had to pay £800 for 2 HDMI output for the amp before. The price has come down.

Onkyo TX-NR626 are still available for around the £300 mark, as much as it pains me to suggest buying one. Just keep it well ventilated & don't bother turning on your central heating when you use it. :p

Pay the extra for the Yamaha there great amps i have a Yamaha RX-V767 and its been great ;) i had an Onkyo before that but its front display stopped working and it run bloody hot too.. it did not last much longer :o

Hmm looks like the Yamaha is a goer then... :)

I love the Onkyo looks and features but the scary HDMI failure problem really puts me off, it's a shame as the Mrs' brother has one and it performs brilliantly but it's not going to be in an airconditioned room. :D

Yep, I'm settled on the 775 now.

Right, now to pick some speakers. Owing to the shape of the room, a toddler and being discrete I'm going to have to wall mount the fronts and centre and have the rears on stands. Sub is going to have to go in the far left rear corner, nowhere else it can go really.

Are the smaller speakers any cop, say the Cambridge Minx range? Was thinking those for the rears with a Mission centre and Mordant bookshelf speakers up front. Sub I have no clue about!

Hmm, that's a bit of a bummer. So no sending the Mrs off to watch terrible soaps whilst I game downstairs... Cheers for the heads up, good to be forewarned.

Just checked and I think the first amp that supports Zone B is about 3 times the price. Would be a nice to have, but an HDMI matrix is much cheaper.

Typical.

I get around to buying an amp and it's discontinued. Sigh. Anyone know what's replacing the RXV775? Is it the 777?

Managed to find a 775 for not much more than Richer Sounds, so went for it in the end.

Don't mind that it's last year's model, it's still got more features than I could possibly need. :D

The 1040's zone two for speakers was pre-out not high level speakers, does the 1050 do the same?

The 1050 seems to be the full thing by looks of websites and manual.....anyway all good if you found one.
