*** Sony Xperia Z3 Compact ***

After nearly half a decade with apple devices I just ordered Z3 Compact. I pray dedicated accessories will follow (need active car dock, need proper, fitted, slim bumper case) shortly...

O2 Pricing:

500 Mins, Unltd Texts, 500MB data, £27/month (£14 device, £13 airtime)

Unlimited Mins/Texts and;
2GB data, £32/month (£14 handset, £18 airtime)
5GB data, £37/month (£14 handset, £23 airtime)
8GB data, £42/month (£14 handset, £28 airtime)

I'm happy with that. I get 30% airtime discount through my employer, so the 2GB plan works out at £26.60 - about the same as buying the handset outright and going with GiffGaff/Three.

Incidentally, O2 Refresh is now the cheapest source for buying the phone outright. Cancel straight away, £14x24=£336! Not Amazon-beating, but the best offer out there now.

Still can't decide whether to take the plunge for this or wait for the N6/'L' announcements.

Realistically though, is anything coming with such a small size, specs and massive battery life? I think not...

Whoops, my finger slipped. Order placed for an Orange/Red one.

Going by reports the Nexus 6/X is going to have a 5.2 or 5.9 screen size. 5.2" is manageable but not 5.9"

I was waiting for the Nexus 6/X but the Z3c ticks all the boxes and much much more!

Terrible thing eh? Slippery finger....;)

I think 5.9" would be easily doable but only if the phone itself wasn't any larger than say a Note 3 sized frame. The smaller the better and sleeker too in terms of bezels.

I will have to reacquaint myself with a <5.7" screen now though. Half an inch smaller than the Note 3 in a smaller frame. In a way this is better but will I miss the size of the Note 3 screen? Only time will tell.

If the bezels are thin enough then 5.9" and no larger than the Note 3 which is out of all the phablets a decent size.

It's going to be an adjustment for you Mate, as many people who have moved over to the Note series phones say that they wouldn't go back and would in fact use bigger phones whereas you've gone the other way. Be interested to hearing your thoughts on the Z3 forum once you get hands on the phone.

Apparently Amazon are honouring the price at 1 per customer :p Absolutely fine for me...and many others who didn't try to take complete and utter advantage of it. :)

Hopefully they get their stock by the end of this week/early next week.

No spen. you will have to get use to the back/multi-tasking buttons being swapped around too.

No S-Pen isn't a deal breaker. Ever since I started using Google Keep a few weeks back I've used the S-Pen very little as that was my go to note taking method but since Keep works so well anyway and is synchronised with he rest of my Google stuff I've stopped using the S-pen for actual work and instead use it to draw things on people's faces :p

Which Z3 forum btw stoosh?

On the subject of screen size: I was initially concerned about the screen size reduction that I'd be facing with the Z3c, coming from a Nexus 5.

However there's no need to panic. Working it out there's a 0.35" reduction in screen size. Translating to a mere 8.9mm reduction. I can live with that!

I've ordered one of those tempered glass screen protectors, shall let you all know what it's like when it arrives.

Where did you get the screen protector from? :)

That was my initial concern as well, the Nexus 5 is perfect in its screen size and dimensions, however the battery life leaves a lot to be desired.

The move across to the Z3c will not be very painful considering it's extremely fast and fluid and has a memory card slot. The best thing about it though is the insanely great battery that I'm looking forward to. It's going to be great not worrying about using the phone and watch the battery indicator drop before my eyes.

If the small screen is a concern, why not just get the full sized Z3? The difference in battery life between the two isn't massive - both are excellent. Is it the size (I can kinda get that one - it's the thing putting me off the Z3 a bit. So. Much. Bezel)?

I had the HTC One M8 and Z2 and they were both uncomfortable to use and I had to shuffle the devices in my hand which got on my nerves.

The Z3c is an ideal compromise and perfect for one handed use yet doesn't really skimp on any of the features that the Z3 has except for screen and the RAM.

For me personally the upper limit of using a device would be the LG G2 but that was literally the size of a S4.

The only thing that i'm a little worried about is how the 720p screen will look as compared to a 1080p screen of my Nexus 5

On the flips I've I find the Note 3 very comfortable and just fine to use with one hand! The Z3 is going to be just fine in this regard, for me. More curved than Note 3, slimmer, thinner, lighter :)

Pre ordered a Red/Orange one at the weekend, looks the perfect replacement for my nexus 4. The price was quite palatable too for it sim free, though I can't get over how little data you're getting for the money with the main networks if going down a contract route now.

£40 per month + for what I'd consider a reasonable amount of data for a 4g phone (7gb) doesn't stack up for me! I already use an average of 4.5gb on the nexus and to be honest I don't think I really use it THAT much

who else got this today :)
