So there appear to be 3 variations of the 2.0 diesel engine in the mk3 Mondeo, and just wondered what the difference is and whether there is a particular one to go for/avoid?

The ones I've seen are:

115bhp - 50.5mpg - 148g/km CO2 - £145 tax
115bhp - 49.6mpg - 151g/km CO2 - £180 tax
130bhp - 48.7mpg - 154g/km CO2 - £180 tax

Also I've noticed in the names some of them have [6] which I'm guessing means 6 speed gearbox?

Also what does this Euro 4 specification mean?

Cheers :)

I don't know the difference between them, however the Euro 4 etc. specifications are to do with emissions controls. Euro 4 was a popular choice 10+ years ago for company cars because it meant you didn't pay the 3% BIK adder for diesels.

Ford originally used their own engines which were made in the UK as far as I know. Then they switched to PSA (Peugeot / Citroen) units.

Fords own engines use chains. PSA use belts.

And I think [6] refers to year, rather than gearbox. If you look on parkers.co.uk plenty of mk3 mondeos listed as [6] have 5 speeds and vice versa.
