Hi there, I'm planning to get a BMW 3 Series, between 2009-2011.

I'm 23 years old, by the time I get it, it would be my first car.

I know the road tax is cheap on the car. But, without going through sites doing different quotes. How much am I looking at per month for insurance?

Cheers!

Nobody can tell you other than an insurer - you have no choice but to go through sites and get quotes.

Probably best picking something else as your first car, it's going to be massively expensive and frankly it's not as if the 3 Series is some sort of epic wonder dream car that'll justify the enormous costs of having one as a first car in London.

Buy a 3 Series later when you've got some no claims and some experience.

One would imagine a fair whack.

As a 39 year old with zero no-claims but 9 years of named driver insurance, with a clean licence, no accidents and a decent postcode I paid £520 for a 12 year old 3 Series Compact (325) last year.

Could have probably got it a marginally cheaper but went for a insurer that converts my named driver years to no-claims.

Also car insurance prices do seem to be on the drop. But still, I think you're gonna get stiffed.

Go and stick your details into comparethemarket or something, what's the matter with you?

So, we give you a price on what we think your insurance will be and you'll go out and buy a car on that information alone?

Brilliant.

It'll be uber cheap, London, for some reason, has really cheap insurance on ~2010 BMW 3 series.

Seriously, it takes five minutes. Go to a comparison site.

This basically. How lazy do you wanna be? It takes all of 2 minutes. Infact in the time you've taken to make this thread and read replies you would've been able to bosh through a couple of websites already.

Which is totally not worth paying for something as ordinary as an E90 318.

thought i was gonna get grief then for my random car insurance quote i gave him based on the details he provided me with :D
no its not worth it at all for a 318 as it has not got anymore performance than an average 1.6 Focus/Golf etc which would be more than enough for a first car. Most new drivers pay between 1200 and 2500 depending on age and location from what i have seen and heard.
My 1.6 Focus cost me £1700 when i passed :(

Rough idea? Between £1500 and £6000 per year.

Now you've got a rough idea you can run some quotes on comparethemarket.com and get a very accurate idea
