AMD teasing new product, is it Radeon or FirePro?

nvidia have the advantage at the moment that's for sure! check around there is a crap load of r9 290/290x for sell in the second hand market much more than ive ever seen anyway. not good for ati it seems like people are selling their cards and what do you think they are replacing them with?
ive seen a 2nd hand r9 290x for £180 on a local selling site.

This has been an amusing thread to review, but the teasers you saw coming from the AMD India account were to promote a launch event in India for the R9 285.

We have the @AMDRadeon account followed by 269,000 people if we wanted to tease a brand new product. This should have been the first litmus test anyone applied.

Not being funny but if this thread has been so amusing to review and given the fact that you have a new AMD vendor rep on these very forums our own AMDMatt( aka LTMAtt) don't you think you could have let us know that this wasn't a new product announcement, rather than let us all go on like we have been.

I would say the teaser had exactly the desired effect... alienating as many potential customers as possible. :D

Well it just seems that the new AMD thinking is that its ok to have silly jabs at the opposition,( hey lets get our fans to invade an Nvidia event) lets announce products and then a year latter still only have the technology used in a couple of titles, (Mantle and trueaudio) and we wont even mention FreeSync.(vapourware anyone) and now this little stunt.

At the moment AMD are rapidly becoming a joke, which is beneath them. They are a decent company and they should stop treating their customers like idiots and get with the programme.

It wasn't a stunt though, it was an event in India, Videocardz thought it was something else, blame them.

Yeah, it is quite funny to release a new range of products with a major new feature - mantle - and for that entire product range to go eol before that feature is even out of early beta

ok I'll blame Videocardz, but while doing that why didn't the newly appointed AMDMatt set the record straight as soon as it became apparent what was happening in this thread. Seems that AMD are quite happy for its customers to be strung along by whispers in the wind that just keep fizzling out to nothing.

In that case, AMD are basically biting the pillow right now?

Maybe AMD feel like they don't need to respond yet? They've been selling 290's and 290x's in good quantities for months on end now.

I don't think there's been a massive shift in AMD > Nvidia users because of the 9 series launch.

The clue is in his new title.:p

His paycheck has AMD stamped on it, he can't/won't comment on whispers unless the hierarchy instruct him to do so otherwise.

It's not rocket science.:D

65% of sales isn't indicative of what each product sells at, that would be like me saying less folks buy green because AMD have higher overall gpu sales and AMD users are offloading less gpu's than their counterpart to up/sidegrade.

hmmm.....970 is tempting; but I'll most likely snag a 290 at 200 in a little while....with DA: I coming soon and new Civ game; mantle is something I consider ;)

It is indicative of AIB sales, and that is what we are discussing, if the figure is not relevant to 290/980 sales then why did it dip to 60% when the 290's were released and then rebound as Nvidia dropped prices and released other products

Obviously APU sales are going to be affected by other things and are not really relevant to this discussion

To be honest i thought about swaping out my 290 for a pair of 970's but after a while i thought why bother my 290 is going great on 2560x1440 so would proberly not even notice the difference

The ingame difference will be slim if anything and you would loose more in the cost of swapping than you would save on leccy.

The 290 is a cracking card and mine ran everything at 1440p without a struggle.
