gtx 670 reference blocks on 970 cards...

Had a quick look at the reference 680 PCB and the reference 980 PCB and can 100% tell you that they are NOT compatible.

But EK has started testing their 670 blocks on reference 970s and found compatible blocks.

Try the Galax 970 and you'll see 670 blocks listed as compatible.

Interesting. Wonder is the asus DCUII 970 is similar to the 670.

Edit: From looking at the PCB images of the 970 Strix and the 670 DCU II they do look strikingly similar. Anyone want to send one my way so I can test this theory out haha? EK Rep?

Top is 970 and bottom is 670.

Im guessing if the ek blocks fit most if not all reference 670 blocks will fit, my alphas for example

This is great news. I won't be directly upgrading since I have 670 (clocked over 680) Sli but I hope this trend continues. At least if I need to sell my blocks, Fingers crossed I can sell them as 970 waterblocks.

Another cool factor is if you do decide to upgrade to 970 or 970 SLI down the road you can re-use your existing blocks :)

I'll be very surprised if it doesn't fit tbh. Although from looking at how much taller the card has gotten, using it for sli might actually not work with the EK bridge. Suppose its not all bad though. Im tempted to just buy one and see for myself.

There is no way it would fit. The cards are different shapes, the power connectors are different and the stuff above and to the right of the GPU are completely different.
