*** Sony Xperia Z3 Compact ***

Just FYI if any of you are looking to buy the other half a phone soon too.

Got an email from Expansys this morning - They are selling both the Z3C and an E3 model both for £430.

Currently deciding between this and the iphone 6

How good is the camera on this? Is the front facing camera any good?

This is hopefully the last time I have to use my nasty S4 camera :>

It comes with a front screen protector and MH750 headphones.[/QUOTE]

Isn't that the full-size Z3?

Waiting in for ParcelForce 'express24'. Wish everyone used DPD so I could nip out of the house safe in the knowledge I won't miss the delivery.

what settings are you guys using for white balance? Stock whitebalance is so horribly off :o

I'm on these which have helped but I'll need to tweak it a bit more.

I know it's a pain but have you tried a factory reset? Sounds like it could be an upgrade bug.

Mine arrived this morning, some pics below compared to my Nexus 5. Only played with it for a few hours, but I've summarised some of my thoughts on it so far:
  • Doesn't bend.
  • Seems well built and not cheap at all. All the flaps sit well, no creaks from the body.
  • Slightly smaller than the N5
  • Nicer (small) size compared to most modern phones - but ergonomically the lack of more rounded edges makes it a little sharp in the hands. The iPhone6 is probably nicer to hold in my view, but I don't have one to try side-by-side.
  • Magnetic chargers have their drawbacks, for instance you can't really pick up and use the phone when it's charging as the cable comes off.
  • Sony software is ok for an OEM customised variant, I still prefer many of the Google/Vanilla options like lockscreen, dialler etc.
  • Sony keyboard seems rubbish, using the Google keyboard now.
  • Next to the Nexus 5, you can make out that the display is slightly smaller (about 7mm height and 2mm width), but text clarity and pixelation is very hard to tell the difference. 720P display is not an issue at all in my view (I was worried about this).
  • Battery life does seem very impressive. I've just over an hour screen time so far, and have been downloading apps etc - battery life is still 90%.
  • Speakers seem decent
  • White balance/Screen calibration is off, as other reviews have already stated. It's very cool/blue - but it doesn't look bad.

This is about the best deal I've seen so far (via Mobile Phones Direct), I'd buy the phone now if 50% of the minutes was exchanged for double data. I might hold off for a little longer.
