As above I am currently running a R9 290X would it be worth switching to a Gigabyte GTX 970?

I have just removed all of my watercooling and replaced the CPU cooler with a H105 so I am really swaying towards the GTX 970 for the lower heat and voltage not to mention the new Nvidia features.


Also can someone give advice on how I get to use the seller market on OCUK forum as I have loads to sell?

I don't think it would be worth switching a watercooled 290X for a 970, but since you've removed your WC gear and seem set on doing it anyway, go for it.
 
It really isn't a lot, all it takes is to engage with the community rather than lurk, and I would rather have the extra layer to keep people safer when trading.

Looking at my stats, I average 2000 posts a year, 6 months to get access seems fair enough.

I didn't exactly see people tossing their GTX580 away and swap for 660Ti/670 for the sake of lower temp and power consumption. If people didn't do it then, why should the do it now?

Not worth it for very similar performance unless you think less power consumption is worth the change. Wait till Amd launch their next gen high end cards for a good increase in performance between gen's or if you prefer Nvidia then when they have to drop their full fat Maxwell cards prices in line with Amd's new gen prices shortly after they launch (as they won't drop before that) buy them then.

Down to personal preference really.

But another factor is with removing my watercooling the reference R9 290X is very loud.

Never had a Nvidia but the reviews regarding drivers etc. is highly rated. Speaking of price I cant believe how much the R9 290X's have dropped in price.
