Second Tory MP defects to UKIP

I think we can all agree that destroying the provision of council housing in the 80's was a very bad idea, but you can't honestly be suggesting now that because 30 years ago the Tories screwed something up they cannot take any steps to try and deal with the resulting issues?

No, but blaming the group of people that are suffering most as a result and then punishing them isn't taking steps to deal with the resulting problem as, in fact, the Tories knew from the start when they factored in the penalties for under-occupation into their savings for the scheme.

I don't think they are blaming them - merely looking at ways to reduce the situation whereby you have a shortage of family council housing but couples living in houses which are of sufficient size for a family.

I'm not singing the praises of our government, but that list is meaningless without historical comparison, and evidence of negative ramifications of the cuts listed.
Also its from over a year ago, and many of the stats are no longer true at all (unemployment for example), and it could be argued that other parts of the list are not even bad.

The problem is a lack of housing in the first place, particularly in the south when even working people need social housing

Slow down there, loads of sweeping assumptions ahoy.

What about under occupancy in private housing.

Lolwut?

If you're talking about houses being left empty, fine, but for someone like me living on my own in a mortgaged 3 bed place, that's no-one else's business but my own.

Why all the Tory hate, they were voted in and they haven't really done in the last 5 years to warrant any particular criticism as far as I can see, Cameron has tried to project a middle-right persona, at least.

Apart from screwing over people who are disabled and letting in ever more immigrants. Don't believe me, go to Canterbury and see how fast it's turning into poland

How exactly have the government 'let in' people from Poland? Poland joined the European Union in 2004 - they've had the ability to move here for years, long before this government came into power. Should you wish to, you've got the ability to move to Poland as well.

That's how the EU works. The government doesn't just decide to 'let them in'.

You might very well say 'I don't like how the EU works!' which is an opinion you are entitled to but claiming the government is 'letting them in' as if they've made some sort of conscious decision to let Polish people in is just wrong and misleading.

It's also rather worrying quite how few of the facts ever really feature in peoples opinion.

Unlike your own opinions? Your justification for the spare room subsidy is that the country is flooded with single people living in council-owned four bedroom houses. You haven't provided any evidence, and I can't find any evidence, to back up that claim.

LOL, I don't believe that.... I used to live in Canterbury... Its either full of students during term time, or full of French people during the summer.

I believe there was less immigration under this current Government than the last Labour Government...

Tories picked up the country in pieces thanks to Labour. Made cuts that were very much needed. I think any Government that was in for this term would have had to do the same thing.

Labour now wants to come in and up spending... Do me a favour. Oh and their leader is Ed. Pahahaha.

UKIP, whilst making the right noises at times, and perhaps saying things the Tories should be saying, haven't got anything substantial about that.

Only one real option for me.

Agreed!

Way too many lefties here. They all have short memories or non at all, just like Red Ed, No immigration, No deficit.

I'm voting UKIP!

I suppose if your position is voting for a far right party then a lot of sensible people would appear lefties. These forums are populated by mainly right wing posters as the various polls show. According to OCUK posters poll the Tories should have won the last election with a 60 seat majority and NewLabour become the third party.

Scottish Labour voters have/are leaving true blue ED and his Tory-lites.

Are UKIP truly far Right ?
