Far be it for me to stick up for a Tory minister, but I have a bit of sympathy for him here. A (male) journalist posing as a pretty, 20something Conservative supporter called Sophie Wittans to attract party members and apparently exchanged flirty messages. This poor bloke sent explicit pictures of himself to her and ended up having to resign. While I agree that there's a public interest in knowing about the moral compass of elected officials, it seems wrong to me to encourage them to have extra-marital affairs.
Also, there's a suggestion that the Mirror used pictures for the fake profile without permission of the copyright holder. Surely that must break some new press regulation?
