Regarding the Asus Essence STX II 7.1

Is your hunger for bass while listening to music, gaming or watching movies?

If it's music then I only ever listen using the HF button which bypasses the DSP.

You could just increase the bass using the graphic equalizer, that shouldn't affect the other frequencies.

what software do you use for playing your music?

I use MusicBee which is free, plays most formats as standard, is easier to setup than Foobar and has a 15 band graphic equalizer which is a lot more accurate and easier to adjust (it's much bigger) than the Asus one.

If you use graphic equalizer other than the Asus one, it means you can leave the Asus driver set to HF for maximum quality and boost the bass frequencies with the external equalizer.

i had to stop using vlc as it won't play on my second screen at 120hz if i'm in a game.

some weird bug as soon as i drop to 60hz it's fine very odd.

Finally got round to install the card last night. Tried some music on my speakers, and the clarity simple blow the dx away and sounded much better

However there are some issue- while my 5.1 speakers works with 2 channels in Dolby Pro Logic II, when switch to 4/6/8 channels, there's only sound coming out from the front speakers. When I was on my dx, I could play music in Multi channel stereo...so could it be driver issue?

I don't know. you did buy the additional 7.1 card version yes?
Yea. I already have my Corsair SP2500 (Center/Sub) and Edifier 1600T Plus (Sides) connected to the daugtherboard. Using Dolby Pro Logic II in 2 channels it is fine, but when switching to 6 channels (which would disable Dolby Pro Logic II), the sound would only come out from the front speakers (Microlab Solo 7C).

Didn't have this problem with my Xonar DX.
