i7-4790K - Cooler Recommendation

Door's off here's how it's set-up. Front intake and rear/top exhaust. No dust.

1.072 is as high as core voltage goes (auto) in Intel Burn Test

Is that the VID reading? That's nothing really... My 4790k reaches 1.263v under full load with everything set to auto, and it still doesn't get too hot either. I've no idea what batch number mine is, but i'll take a look later if I can find where I put the box.

EDIT: I never bother running stuff like IBT or Prime95 if my gaming temps are fine... It's just too unrealistic and some people get a bit hung up on the high temp results.

EDIT 2: Just did a quick run with Intel Burn Test and it succesffully completed with the CPU cores hitting 74c. The room is also bit warm today at 25c.

Oh I agree. I don't live and die by P95 myself, but even regular stuff like video encoding is getting me to that limit and using Prime allows me to test temps quicker than loading Handbrake. I just want to stay under 70 at full load and I'll be happy.
 
I've found this pancake style to "eat their own heat". Air goes to motherboard, turns out, to RAM / GPU, turns up past cooler and fan pulls heated air right back in. Even on an open bench I've seen 5-8c hotter CPU temps with fan pushing in rather than pulling air out of cooler. I don't think you can just run that fan over, but if you took your rear fan and tied it onto case so it was blowing air into cooler it might help until your new cooler arrives.
 
Just done that. I'm using rubber pins so it was no hassle to just power down and swap it around. I'm doing about 3c better now. Just using my hand to feel, the front intake is near useless due to the design of the case. The video card blocks any air that may have crept through. Top exhaust is just 1000rpm compared to the front/rear which are 2000.

Might be best to set it up as 1000 at the front and have a 2000 at the rear pushing in and two 2000's exhausting at the top. That combined with the new cooler should get this situation under control. Case is perhaps too tight for this level of chip and a full size card going at full throttle. A card that'll be replaced in the coming days with a 970.

Maybe even a new larger case is in order? I'll have to see how my temps run with the new cooler.
 
OK. Just ran 10 runs of Intel Burn Test and two of the cores got no higher than 80c The other two were at 86 but they always ran hotter regardless. I'm hopeful that this is simply an airflow issue now that can be remedied.
 
Problem with top exhaust is it moves heated exhaust from GPU up around the CPU cooler.

Shinobi is not that different from Define R2 I'm running with no problems.
A couple three good intake in front and bottom, unused PCIe slot covers removed from back, back exhaust, not top exhaust and raise case 35-40mm off of carpet for better airflow to bottom and you should be golden.

Buy two more Piranha's then. Add another for double front intake and one for bottom intake and raising case up. So I'm looking at this sort of configuration then? Cable tidying should help, too.

I have my front intake a bit higher than yours and have it blowing cool air directly across the video card. It helps GPU temps a bit and maybe some of the air will move towards the CPU area too (with the aid of top and rear exhaust fans). I hate cases that have the front intake almost completely blocked by a sideways mounted HDD cage... It really bugs me!
